So.. I bought a 3gs this summer and im kinda concernd about skiing with it.

A search on google only results in apps and shit and the NS search is just selling.

I would be great to use the headphones with the mic and stuff.

So.. is it safe to ski with it? Should i invest in some kind of case that protects it?

Or just leave it in the car and ski without a phone or music..

Made a case with things I had at home in panic. Its the size of a brick thought..

A temporary solution.

I ski with my Iphone all the time. And my Iphone 3GS never got fucked! fell on rails, jumps. actually crashed into a three! It was indestructible, but i got stolen and now I ski with Iphone 4.. yeah!

I dropped mine from a chairlift at R.E.D. Mountain, it sat in the snow for a couple hours with no case until somebody brought it in to lost and found (thank god) and i skiid park the whole year with no problems. as lond as you don't directly fall on i on a rail your good.

Skied with mine all season. No problems what so ever. Actually it doesn't have cold temp issues like some of the iPods. Sometimes the screen washes out a little on super cold days. But it's not like you will be playing games on the lift.

FYI I'm mostly a big mountain skier. Thus it did just fine on cliff drops, tomahawking, backcountry kickers, touring, etc... It also held up to me learning rails last year, which was a brutal beating.

Skiing with the phone is nice be because you don't miss calls from friends trying to coordinate on the mountain...

I've had a 3G since they first came to Canada, and its held up to 2 summers of riding and falling directly on it, plus hitting a few trees last winter. The screen has a few dead spots from falling on it, and the back is cracked around the power button because it fell out of my pocket while I was riding, so it sometimes gets stuck down, but it held up to skiing just fine.

just buy a shuffle for $50. That way you don't risk it falling out of your pocket when you wanna change songs or drain the battery.

I broke 3 itouch while i was skiing, so skiing whit my iphone 4g is something that i dont even consider...i bought i shuffle for 50$ and take my other phone when i go on the slope

lost a iphone 3gs falling on a jump last year. It can definatley happen, depends on where you keep it while your skiing and wether you remember to zip up the pocket every time. DONT PUT IT IN A VELCRO POCKET/POUCH, thats how i lost it, ALWAYS USE ZIPPERED POCKETS for anything valuable.

Ski with a Shuffle. If you must bring the phone along, get a zippered, padded pocket for it and avoid taking it out.
Better yet, leave it in the car and tell people in advance that "you're going skiing." much better option.

this, otter box, everyone in my family has one, mine of my iphone4, i had one on my blackberry, my brother has on on his droid, and over the summer i dropped my blackberry in the water and it had the otterbox on it and i pulled it out and the watterdamage stickie things on the inside didnt turn pink. ahah. but otter boxes are the best.

what you know about them shuffles?

but seriously. get a shuffle. they are only 50 bucks, considerably better sealed against moisture (but not waterproof) the battery wont freeze as easily, and they are almost indestructible when it comes to falling on them. its a quality investment.

well, ive heard the new iphones ( 4 ) have teh same glass as helicopter windsheilds. ive never droppped mine so i donno if this is true.
