Investing in green energy

okay so i have this theory that, it could quite possibly be a life changing decision to invest money a large portion of savings into large companies that will be mass producing goods, products, technology, and machinery that is environment friendly, and just well any shit along those lines.
my question is do you know of any companies that are doing, going to do that, or will be starting up for just that purpose?
 
Sounds like a good idea, but It depends on how long it would take for it to get off the ground, and whether or not your money could be better used in other places, but it is a neato idear, sorry i don't know any
