Invader base problem.

Hello,

This is mainly aimed at UK dryslope riders but anyone with a good knowledge of base repairs might have ideas.

Ive been riding at Bracknell for a few sessions now and have found that

the shitty Perma-snow suface has caused the base to burn (or perhaps

wear) away next to the edges of my skis. I reckon this is because the friction is causing the edges to heat up. Just wondering if anyone else

has had such problems and if its fixable?

It seems that the extruded base on 06/07 Invaders is too soft or melts too easily to be durable on Perma-snow.

Ive heard rumours that a temp fix is to fill the gap next to the edge with epoxy, smoth and file. Any thoughts on that? These skis will probably only be used on dry slopes from now on but I would like to perserve them as long as possible.

Any suggestions welcome except the obvious: to buy new skis.

Pics would help. You might be able to ptex it, but it's hard to tell without seeing what you mean.

Iv had similar experience, but on a smaller scale on MY invaders (06 camo ones), But my dryslope locale is Dendex.
I cleaned mine up, and made sure there were no burrs, scuffs on the inside, or outside edges of the ski, then i just gently dripped some p-tex into the offending gap/lift area. After that had settled, i re-heated, and topped up the area once again, scraped, and then waxed. As of then, i used them for my full season in corch', and i never p-texed once while i was there, only a good helping of standard waxing.
since i've been back, i've hit the dentex 3 times.. and so far there has been no lifting of any sort.
i think just making sure that you have applied a good section of p-tex to fill the offender, you should be ok, as long as you dont rush, and try to treat them with care, without letting that core get wet.
:) give us a shout if you find out anything else!
