Interview at Evo this week..

Yo yo, I got an interview coming up for a ski sales rep at Evo tomorrow. Wondering if you guys have any recommendations for what I should wear. I've already met a few of the employees and the manager so I think I have a decent first impression. I was thinking some nice khakis, dress shoes, solid color woven t shirt and a casual watch

idk maybe i'm just used to a different work world and ski websites are even more laid back than i picture, but i can't imagine wearing a t shirt of any kind to an interview of any kind. i say wear a nice button up, nice slacks, and dress shoes

It's split 50/50 everywhere I read online. I'm for sure wearing nice slacks and nice dress shoes. I just don't wanna show up over dressed

But why would you wear slacks/dress shoes with a t shirt? That'd look weird, IMO. Just wear a collared shirt, it doesn't even need to be a dress shirt. I've got a couple collared shirts from Vans that look good with khakis, or even a nice flannel would work.

It'd be like a dress t shirt. But yeah I'm leaning towards a casual button up

There’s no such thing as being over dressed to a job interview.

I have an interview at a hardware store and I plan on wearing a dress shirt. Don’t wear a t shirt to a job interview dude...

If you're going to wear nice shoes and pants you should probably wear a collared shirt.

It's better to be over dressed than mismatched I would think.

You need a collar. Bowtie optional

Okay word.. no t shirt because I'll look like a fool, and no short sleeve button up because I'll look like a serial killer. Solid color long sleeve button up it is..

Collar every time. Worst case scenario they think you take your interviews and job seriously? oh no.

Always better to overdress than under dress. Fuck it, wear a tux Step Brothers style

yeah man even in the skiing world i don't think overdressing is a real worry at an interview. i mean in this case if you showed up in a full suit and acted like a douche, maybe they'd get the impression that you wouldn't be a good fit. but every employer values someone who takes things seriously and shows up looking presentable. in my opinion a long sleeve button up, nice slacks, and dress shoes is the minimum you should consider

good luck man! hope you get it

Thanks brother, exactly what I was looking for.

Best casual but professional look.

Casual but nice shoes, like sperrys or some plain Van's that aren't torn to shit.

Khakis that aren't pleated.

Long sleeve button up, tucked in with the sleeves rolled up.

Brown belt and a nice watch.

The look says I'm laid back but care enough to put effort into what I wear, and this job.

LOL you're interviewing for a seasonal ski shop job. They're only checking you out in person to make sure you don't have track marks on your arms, it doesn't fucking matter what you wear. I bet you take 30 minutes to decide what to have for breakfast.

For someone who's unemployed with minimal experience and applying to a job that 30 other people are applying to... Yeah it makes a difference

This is a tough call and really a judgement call in a lot of circumstances like this. I work in a construction field, and sat on an interview panel this week. Most candidates wore full suits and I thought that was overkill until the head boss came in at lunch and was like, ‘is that one of the candidates in his Carhartts for the interview??’ In a tone that suggested he did not approve.

I read that you already did it, so good luck- but my rule of thumb is that you wear the fanciest thing you would actually wear to a given day in the job, within the style of appropriate dress code for that job.

sweat pants + wife beater = total alpha move, ask if you can be interviewing for Chief Operating Officer

“Yo where the fuck is Bryce Phillips I’m tryin to get PAID!”

Its a ski industry job. Put yourself in their shoes. If you were interviewing someone who's job was to sell ski equipment how would you want him to look? I would want him to look like a youthful skier who actually hits the slopes. Dont dress like a bum, just throw on a flannel and some khakis. I work at a ski shop and half the time I see reps walking in wearing t-shirts, chacos and shorts. Its about what you know, not how well you dress.

Dude you should poke Sklar for some advice. He works there.

Personally though, I’ve always been a fan of over dressing. You can run the risk of seeming too stiff, but it never hurts to be overly professional.

Yeah man I was definitely worried about them thinking I was super up tight or some shit lol. Interview went good tho, they saw I was stoked and knew my gear talk so I got a good feeling

Why are you the way that you are? Dude, just go away.

I had a guy show up for a construction interview dressed exactly like Donald Trump. Big fat Italian guy in an oversized black suit and long ass tie. It was fucking awesome. I can’t remember if he had anything good to say I was too focused on the suit choice

Every now and then newschoolers has a magical moment where something happens that no one imagined would actually happen. Last one I remember was those kids hitting Chads gap
