Internet Help Needed ASAP!!!

Ok on my laptop a while ago I got a virus. I put my computer on safe mode and ran the Norton Scan and fixed the problem. But after that, neither Google Chrome nor Internet Explorer worked so I stuck with Firefox for a while. Tonight I just downloaded an update for Firefox and now that won't even work. I googled this and it said that the problem might be my firewall settings so I changed those but it made no difference. I am now on my brother's laptop.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

sorry man im not sure what to tell you... if you can back up all your documents on a portable HDD maybe do a system restore which will bring the computer back to factory settings? youll have to get all your programs again but it could be worth it

Sorry to keep posting and bumping this but I do need help. I don't know what to do anymore. And I can't download anything because none of my IE's work.

I could help you with that

But It's not the most gentle process

do a short system restore on safe mode, go to the date just before the day you got the virus

what's your favorite browser? just uninstall and reinstall that one, or find a rollback for mozilla firefox

this. If not backup and reset your system. Find a better anti virus, and try to keep off sketchy sites and downloads.

search malwarebytes anti-malware, dl it if you can, turn your computer on in safe mode and run this program.

this. if you cant access the net on your machine, download it on your brothers comp and use a flash drive to transport it to your computer.
Also what messages are chrome/firefox giving you? Do they just not open all together? or do they open and give you some error message? If so what is it?

YES! This program saved my computer. I got a virus a few years ago and Norton couldn't fix it, but I downloaded malwarebytes and it kicked the virus right in the ass in about an hour.

idk u probabbly already did this but i would erase the explorers and reinstall....

if not prob back your shit up and restore..its good anyways you will prob clear up some space

How do i do this? Can you give me the step process please?

And to those who said reinstall the browser; I can't at all. No sites load what so ever. They'll say the page cannot be loaded due to error and when I say find the problem it says it has something to do with the proxy server. Does this change anything?

Okay. Turn on your computer and spam press f8, when it opens up the screen with gray colors and black background, scroll to start in safe mode with networking. Then go on the internet and get the previously mentioned anti virus.

I just tried this and its still saying on my browser that the proxy server is not responding. Whatever that means.

FIXED IT!!!!

For those of you who posted WITH ADVICE get 10's for karma.

Btw, I went to tools, clicked options, Advanced, Network Tab, Settings... Button, Switched to "No Proxy" and BOOM! Got it.
