Thought some Subie fans on here would be interested in seeing this. Demonstration video on some of the current AWD systems on the market.

Does anyone know of any AWD comparisons between Subaru and Audi? It seems like the demos that one company does excludes the other one. It's not a coincidence either.

i think it says something when one car is twice as expensive as the other. but seriously both dope manufacturers.

Pretty sure they are nearly identical, the audi quattro to the Subaru 4EAT of the WRX and then in some other models. It isn't as similar between the Audi and the STi for example, cause the STi uses a viscous fluid AWD system, instead of an electronically controlled system.

Pretty sure this is a repost, or at least I've seen it before and I know I got into a battle with someone because they said this proves SUbbies to be better then Audis.

so to finish the battle before it starts, the VW used in this test uses transaxle configured halidex AWD system verses the longitudinal Quattro system, so they left out Audi for a reason.

At the end of the day, both Audi and Subbie make good cars that suit their target market, I hopefully will be owning more Audi's as I grow up.

driving on the open road with 4hi engaged just causes alot of extra wear. But I also like being in control of when I need 4wd selected

Sweet I have a forester 2.5 x, but it's a 2004 not a 2008. Mine's probably similar.

There is a steep hill by my house and it had no problem climbing up it in the snow. The hill is kinda like a u, and other cars would slide down or get stuck in the trench/bottom of the u and have to turn up my street.

would also like to see a volvo in there. the end of the video shows that it is basically an ad for subaru's but it does a good job in proving why subaru makes (one of) the best awd system's out there.

Not entirely true. Driving on dry pavement for extended periods in 4hi really fucks with it, especially with older 4wd systems. This is because the front axle actually turns slightly faster than the rear (difference of

that's what i was getting at.

i didn't actually mean put it in 4hi because 2hi just doesnt cut it on dry asphalt.

i can see how my post could be misread though, my bad on not clarifying.
