looking to come over this season from Australia and working in a resort... few question

which resort would be ideal?

what role is the best?

What is the pay like being a lift operator?

What type of skiing are you hoping to do?

As far as rates, expect minimum wage or close to it ($7.25/hr in a lot states, but as high as $9.34 in Washington)

at deer valley you get 20 bucks an hour being a ski instructor

What resort depends what you're looking for. There are some tiny places and some huge places. Probably better off with mid to big as they have a lot more international people working.

The pay depends on what you do but don't expect to make a lot of loot. Probably will be around 8 an hour for a lifty most places.

Also job depends on the person. Some people like to work outside of the mountain and shred all day, some people like to teach, I like working in the park. It really depends on who you ask.

IT might not be a bad idea to find an area you like and apply to all the good resorts in that area to give yourself a better shot at getting a job at one. Not sure the visa situation but I've heard it can be a huge bitch. I don't think we have anything like the aussie/nz working holiday visas

Taos ski valley hires quite a few international applicants.

They will hire these international employees through the Universal Student Exchange for the 2014-2015 Winter Season.

Dope, steep, quiet mountain. They have a lot of upgrades going down this summer, like a new chair to previously hike to terrain. Should be a good year.
