Insane Mt. Shasta Avalanche

Saw this earlier today. Could be a historically large avalanche on Shasta a couple days ago. Saw some pics of the crown that was about 30ft. They think it travelled around 5,000 ft. Fucking crazy, thought some of you might enjoy reading up on it if you didn't hear about it.

That's why they call it avalanche gulch!

I mean, there used to be a ski area there in the slide path, I believe.

There isn't one there anymore for a pretty good reason.

The old ski bowl was on another part of the mountain but you're right it was taken out by an avalanche.

Yeah, it's a ridgeline over from where this avy struck.

That whole southwest side of the mountain is extremely avalanche prone though.
