Initial drop angle on a 7-foot high platform?

My platform is 7' up which seems pretty high compared to other setups so I'm trying to figure out what the slope will be like. What should the angle of the initial drop be?

There's a lot you can do to speed it up construction fence, dish soap, make the slope a "ladder" rather than solid but nothing I could do to slow it down if the initial drop ended up being too steep and making the whole thing too fast

I'm 210 lbs tho so maybe I could use that extra speed

Check it! Never seen a setup built with trees so I'm hyped

I wouldn't worry about having too much speed. Most people are always looking for more speed because they build them too small. And there are ways to slow it down if needed.

As far as angles there are some steep and mellow ones I've ridden that are both nice. Mellower is a little easier to set for a trick, and the transition is slow so you don't have that hit at the base, but they can also be slower.

If it's steep make sure you still have a decent transition though so you don't lose your speed and get thrown off at the base.

The first angle is only gonna be like 4, 5 feet long before the next angle-- I'm trying to make a rough quarter pipe drop. shit will be niiice and curvy and smooth

I think what I'll do is make it pretty steep for that extra speed, then make the flat part of the tranny longer, giving more time to prepare after dropping. win-win

If you want to get really smooth you could do a curved tranny. just cut the sides out of ply like you're building a ramp.

Doesn't mater that much. IF it's not an abrupt change it shouldn't be bad, and I've ridden some where it was like steep to death flat and still had fun. As long as you have enough speed and time before the rail to recover if it's a bit funky, anything is doab;e.

Mines 7.5 feet high and my drop in angle is pretty steep, the full in run with lip is only 18 feet long . I havent measured the exact angles but it'll give you an idea

Mine is 3.5ft high on a small down slope with wood dock sections as trannys and a skate board ramp. I can clear 35ft without soap. You'll be fine. Always better to have to much speed than too little.
