Ingrown toenails...

So I have had ingrown toenails for like 3 years, they come and go, and I am pretty sure the only way to fix the problem is to go to the foot doctor and have it removed so it won't come back. I know this is a slightly disgusting subject to talk about, but I am sure many people on here have had them and I wanted to see if they got "surgery" how long it took before they could ski again...

I am debating on just trying to live through the pain all winter, but getting even the slightest toe bang makes me want to cry. So I am trying to figure out how long the recovery is to determine if it would be worth it or not to get it done now, or later.

Thanks.

my sister got hers removed and she was back to normal in like a week and shes a swimmer so she is constantly kicking and turning off the wall

Get them removed, the pain subsides right away, you just have a tender toe for a day. Plus the nail will grow back properly.

I've had about 4 or 5 removed before and its way better once they are gone. If I were you I would just wrap the toe in a band aid or something when you ski.

my cousin is a foot doctor, so I had her yank mine out once. after seeing her do it, I just cut them out myself when I get one. It's pretty easy to do. Generally I don't even have to remove the entire nail...just cut out the side that has become ingrown.

at home "surgery" - go for it dude....do it yourself.
