I want to spend a season in beautiful New Zealand. Im hoping you can help me out with some info. Im looking for a resort with wicked off piste/back country acess. Basically the steepest and snowiest resortwith the smallest lift lines.

I'll need a place to live too, thinking about renting a caravan. Any suggestions or know how much it is or rent in a house would be?

And I would have to get a job. Im a ski instructor, and I coach park and freestyle. But I would take up any job basically. Can a canadian get a job easily? and any idea on wages (minimum wage?)?

Thanks

Jah Bless

For the smallest lift lines and steepest gnarliest terrain you cant go past the club fields in nz.

Hit up a license to chill pass for that. http://www.chillout.co.nz

But if you want a solid job and still be able to ski the club fields you would want to look into a job at Mt Hutt, http://www.nzski.com. Or porters, http://www.skiporters.co.nz

or you could look further down south and work at Cardrona, Snowpark Treble Cone etc.

Hit me up with a PM if you want more info or just PM anyone else who's in the Kiwi cult.

TC def has the best terrain out of the major resorts, they have a ski school where it's not too hard to get jobs either. No park there though, and sometimes the conditions in NZ really make the park where you want to be. I work at Remarks and really like it, bit smaller than TC but a sick park as well.

Four Main locations to ski: (may be wrong on some south island resorts)

Auckland - Snowplanet. Inside ski hill, has a small park but is sick to train.

Mt Ruapehu/Ohakune ( interior north island ) - and has two resorts Turoa/Whakapapa. Both recruit alot of foreigners, should apply right now cause jobs are filling quickly if not already.

Christchurch Area (Middle of south island) - Mt Hutt, a few club fields and a few others i cant name. Is sick, most of these are smallish fields with club fields limited to 1-2 chairs.

Wanaka/Queenstown -south NZ.

Has the three main fields in Wanaka Cardrona/snowpark/Treble Cone that has sick backcountry and park. and some club fields north of wanaka e.g Ohau etc.

Queenstown has places like Remarkables/Coronet Peak/ and some others i dunno the names.

Anyway, all places hire foreigners except maybe club fields but you wont want to work there. Thats a summary, it may be flawwed.

Sweet man, see you there! Yeah I'm in Japan, it's been a great season, so much snow. Shitty today though, windy and warm :(

Remarks got snow yesterday which is pretty cool.
