Info on Mt Hood summer public lanes

Yeah If you come for a couple days. The tickets are $54, the park is SUPER LEGIT as long as the weather is nice, and it's open 8am to 2:30pm

if its a 5 hour drive why would you not go? but anyway the public park is way legit, not as filled with features as the camps but defiantly worth it if you can go

If you can come in June, do it. There's a 7 jump line right now and next to that are 2 four jib lines and the park crew is supposedly adding more.

any word on cracking down on hiking up?

i know i should pay for the lift ticket, bladdy bladdy blah, but i don't want to. i've heard numerous accounts of people hiking up with packs and getting in trouble or kicked out. i'm really not trying to pay 50 bucks a day, especially later this summer when you can't even lap mile...

it depends. they will obviously get somewhat smaller as the summer progresses... i guess anywhere from 40 at the smallest to 60+ at the largest, though i could be wrong. i didnt do much jumping last summer, mainly rails

Jumps range from about 25-45 ft, they are super nice, and the jib line is REAL fun, and it will only get better, we havnt had decent weather since the park moved up to its current location(summer location) so its been hard for the park crew to do that much work on everything, but the nice weather is coming!! Also with hiking up, they will bust people for hiking if you look like your just hiking up there to hike some rails, trick is to hike up in the climbers trail and not look like a park rat I.E. 6xl tall tee's, carrying your skis on your shoulder, etc. My advice if your going to hike is to skin up, or at the very least attach your ski to your backpack, and dont look like your gonna ride park all day, if that makes any sense.

It varries greatly from year to year, this past winter was pretty weak, but currently we have something like a 130inch base, and the public park gets moved when it melts out at the spot its at now. I would say come in june or early july, but they will most likely have a public park til pretty close to the end of august

Gah I wanna go mid august because that's when i get out of summer classes but maybe i'll find some other time.

Yeah man, if this was 08' summer i would of said mid august was fine, but not this year, luckily the spring has been more of a winter so we havnt lost to much snow yet, but once that sun hits, we are in an uphill battle with the snow melting.

you should come out for the last few days dude! i skied august 15th last year for closing day and it was super sick, it actually snowed a little bit on august 14th

i wouldn't recommend going there this week. been horrible weather, and just yesterday they took all the chairs off of the Magic Mile chair (the one that takes you to the park). but if you can make sure that its open and the weather is nice, then the public park is awesome. went this weekend and only skied the park one day, but so many dope people and such sick features. If you're under 18 its like 39 bucks for a ticket too, not too bad.

yup, if you come on a weekend in august and tell me beforehand i'll drive down with a crew.

doooze it! and come to stevens next year!

Ill Ime saying is this summer will not be like previous summers, we have much less snow. And they take the chairs of the Mile every day when they close it.

i was there this weekend and i would reckon that their jump line is 25 to 30 to 35 to 40 to 45. all of these being to the knuckle. all the jumps have long landings and alot of space in-between. probably because of the weather but it takes some time for them to get them all open. (they never did open the last one when i was there). after that there is a roller section and then a two jump line 30 then 40.

the rails were...

on the right: flat box, up box, flat down box, flat up rail.

on the left: flat rail, up down box, donkey dick circle barrel (funnest rail ive ever hit) and then a down square bar.

the park typically stays open into august but the earlier you go the better snow you will have.

they check... a lot, at least in my experience.
Two times I rode without a ticket (once hiking up and once sleeping in a ravine) were the only two days I was never checked. I've seen them intercept many people hiking up with skis or board, or they'll just cruise through the park and ask to see your ticket, or you'll just have to show it on the mile or palmer.

As for when to go, late June into July is usually prime. Right now, for instance, the weather blows, even though it is the beginning of June, Make your drive worthwhile and just camp at the airstrip for a couple of days.

i was there mid july last season and it only had a few jumps and jibs and it was hike those or a pretty long hike to the lift. if you could go earlier and you could lap it would be sick though.

Is it worth the 5 hour drive? I drove 7 hours to just go skiing, that was mid april. If i had the option to drive to go skiing now i would drive 24 hours sleep in my car for a week.
