Because it has synths in! how the hell is MSTRKFT not electro enough? There are a lot of new 'electro' acts around at the moment, some are almost indie, some are almost dance, I don't care, most of them rock.
Others to listen to -
Justice
Teddybears
CSS
The Rapture
Death From Above 1979 (especially the remix album)
Ratatat
Hot Chip fucking rules, I saw some of the set at Coachella and then a DJ set the other night.
Yeah seriously. Stop trying to define genres and take a thread for what it is. By the artists mentioned you can clearly what the person who started the thread is trying to get at.
A lot of them could also be called 'dance-punk' or 'nu-rave' or 'electroclash' or whatever, it's hard to define lots of bands as a certain genre, cause lot's of them are very different. I think I know what the thread starter means though, and I agree with him!
indie all sounds the same, electonic all sounds the same. I can dig me some hot chip songs here and there, but other than that its just same old indie garbage.
justice's new album is good. im not sure if phoenix is considered electronic but they are good too. if you like girl talk check out popstatic, it's an eloquent and noted rip off.
Alice in Videoland? I wouldn't call it indie elctronica but some of you called the sounds and shiny toy guys indie elctronica whihc i don't think works either......anyways these guys are like realy elctronical.....but its has consitent volcals liek a real song.
Anyone like Brothers Past? Philly based band that absolutely KILLS it, especially live. They put together incredible albums. This Feeling's Called Goodbye is incredible.
my favorite album of this so called genre has been the death from above remix album epsecially the MSTERKRFT remix that got me started into this type of music
hot chip did a set in newcastle Uk a couple of weeks ago and they were distinctly average, love electro but they were so amateur it was a joke, shame because their tracks were decent
Was it a DJ set? Cause I've seen the live act and it's awesome, but the dude couldn't DJ for shit the other week in Portsmouth, didn't even attempt to mix, some good tunes though.
I have been without access to music (both stores and downloading) for like 4 months. This thread made me so incredibly excited to go check out everything mentioned. I can't wait!!!! I have a list of 53 albums so far. Wish my ipod was bigger...
I got a another firey one for you guys. I'm sure some of you have probably heard of them, but the band is 2020 Soundsystem. They are tight as fuck. Very LCD Soundsystem-esque. From England. These guys are unreal.
Sounds like: LCD Soundsystem, New Order, The Faint
Skodeo, again with the quality albums of great music.
What do I have to contribute? Huh... I dunno, I guess if you want some kinda chillout indie sorta electronic you might try the album Feel Good Lost by Broken Social Scene. They did kinda a instrumental / experimental album, I kinda like some of the songs on there.
Also, if you havent heard of MC Chris, get "Fettes Vett", great song.
Dude...I LOOOOVE Lotus, such nice cool dudes. I go way out of my way to see them (totally a groupie).. I will upload their album only on the condition that you all support this band in some way possible, go see them live or buy their new live double album "Escaping Sargasso Sea" ( http://www.lotusvibes.com )
They also have A TON of free downloads on Archive.org:
