Increased # of freeskiers (at my local hill)

Literally, there are now 2x the amount there were last year. Used to be just me, my bro + my 2 friends, local pro kirbstopper and another dude whose name I don't remember(I wanna say Matt..). Now there's at least 12 on the hill at any point. Sure that's not a lot but it's the freaking prairies, and more freeskiers is always nice to see as opposed to a hill swarming with snowboarders.

Has anyone else witnessed this growth at their hill?

where do you ski becasue i have 2 times the snowboarders this year. so now wachusett has 10 times more snowboarders than skiers

unspecifically..my location is in my sig.

specifically, springhill winter park. it's still like 85% boarders, 10% freeskiers, and 5% renters.

What makes a freeskier different from any other skier?
Your new "freeskier" friends might have just bought some baggier clothes making them look more like freeskiers?
Or maybe there honestly is more freeskiers at your hill. Either way does it really matter?

what ive noticed is an increased # of kids dropping bank on the gear, but cant 270 off a rail. its the same kids who you wouldnt have noticed before, but now everyone seems to think that buying in to the materialistic aspect of skiing will help you fit in.

The freeskiing scene at PC is pretty big now. Theres an equal if not larger amount of skiers at PC then there are snowboarders. Its all love though. We both skiers and snowboarders enjoy watching eachother throw down.

freeskiing is on the rise, thats all. theres a lot at the local mountain but we all support and chill with each other

my park is 80% gapers, like 15% boarders and 5% freeskiers

it sucks real bad they trash all the features.

Seth Morrison doesn't have to ski the side of a floodway ditch. I'm Manitoban, you either find a way to frequently ski the west or you pick up on park riding.

I dont think that kids buying the newest stash when they dont have the skills is a bad idea - any sale for saga/FD/LDC is still giving them more money and will allow more advertising etc to be done for the next year, helping the sport. Honestly, the only way freeskiing will advance is to teach the new kids how to slide rails and hit jumps, not to shun them and tell them they shouldnt have the clothes they are wearing.

I saw Seth ride a rail in an old matchstick productions video so he passes, but I don’t think that is exactly what he means.

this i find is true at my hill as well. and at my school. but nobody else at my school is as good as i am. im not that good but you get the idea...

tell them to come to my mountain, we are lucky to have 3 on the hill at once. but we always have about 2 good boarders and 50 gaper boarders wearing their fressh jersey shore shirts with under armor sleeves and straight airin sides of jumps..o wait nvm we just have gapers and 5 people who can ride

Yup, I've never seen any people that ski in the park that much , now opening day atleast 6 kids [ really small mountain] with fd and saga and shit.

try going from it being illegal for skiers to be in the park to a bunch of kids jerking off to traveling circus on a flat box. now that's a change.

lol i dont even know what your responses aim is... so basically, you don't ride park, but you have more gear than me? cool man. back to the subject of the OP

ugh fuck wachusett. i skied there 4 days a week last year, so many snowboarders its ridiculous. park is insane crowded

in "ski movie III" he does one over a guy drinking coffee at a pay phone, and then next clip he does a wall ride on a house roof. so he passes in that sense hha

Its the notion that you don't have to 270 off a rail in order to be classified as a good skier. Maybe on the east coast but not out west.

Anywho, yes free-skiing is finally becoming socially acceptable in the world of "cool"
