Inability to concentrate

does anyone else really struggle to concentrate on life stuff like work or school while they’re waiting for ski season. i feel so restless and we still have 80+ days to go until season starts (in australia) it doesn’t help that i missed most of last home season and the entire northern hemisphere season to boot because of covid.

i’m doing full time uni and i can barely concentrate in class because i miss it so bad

i also get really down during the non skiing part of the year rip

yes brother, you’re definitely not alone. i spend lots of my time daydreaming thinking about how cool id be if i was a better skier. make a summer setup if you can, maybe it will help

for sure man its normal. I find doing another sport like skateboarding helps to get the mind off skiing but it fills some of the same niche

you gotta set up stuff for skiing that’s what i did, made a summer setup/winter rail setup, made a rail setup at an old ski resort near me to using corrugated tubes, a bunch of other stuff. also skateboarding, surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, cliff jumping are all things that for some reason relate to skiing that you could do during the summer

Your brains are just evolved enough to spend 16 hours a day outside running, hunting and negotiating risk. The smarter you are the more sitting in a chair is gonna drive you insane.

Do what I do. Hibernate

Damn. I tried this it did not work. I climbed into bed with a gallon of water, tylenol pm, 15 taquitos, a frozen pizza, and some candy. I woke up a few hours later and it was a big mess.

Not sure if I did something wrong but if I can't even make it a day idk how to do a month plus.

There's some bears near me. I'm going to talk to one of them and see what they're pro tips are.

I listen to lyric less synthwave when I'm doing schoolwork, it distracts my ADHD brain while allowing me to work still.

this is a good rip thank you man

and thank you to everyone else who weighed in glad to know i’m not alone, appreciate y’all

yup .I work from home and my housemates get to go skiing on weekdays but i only have weekends off and i honestly procrastinate my work looking at ski content online or starting a new task. im also on meds for adhd which helps. but home stuff is brutal and so easy to start doing whatever else and daydreaming . i do fine if you put me in a setting with other people like you have no choice to get work done. or when i worked on the hill my productivity was increased like crazy because if you’re in a setting where you’re more passionate about then i feel like focus is obviously there

Beating a dead horse but hobbies/off season activities. Been restoring a boat that I got for free from work. I've probably spent a little under a grand on fiberglass, resin, paint, sand paper and wood, but it'll all be worth it. Kinda like meditating. You just clear your head while you chip away at it. Sanding is also a decent workout when you start out with a piece of shit.

start pooping your pants at random times throughout the day, cleaning up after yourself should help you forget about skiing
