Takin a utah trip next week (3/13/11 to 3/20/11). I Plan on skiing some park unless there is new snow and stuff. Which parks are better right now, PC or Canyons? I mainly like to hit rails and progressive creative features rather than big jumps if that helps.THANKS!!

park--PC

pow--canyons (even though every time i go there, I always feel like I would have had more fun at PC... but thats just me)

anyway, park-wise. With jibs, I would say PC is definitely better at this point. while canyons jibs are fun, and are often creatively set up, the setups are sometimes awkward and dont flow too well for me.

The 2 jump line on 3 Kings at PC has great flow, jumps arent too big (the bigger one is maybe 35-40), and rails are legit.

PC also has a progression park at the top of Eagle, with jumps anywhere from 3-20 feet, and a few mellow jibs.

Kings is alright, but the jumps are pretty big (I think the last in big line is like 70), and there's nothing too amazing with the jibs (i do like the flat rail to drop, the down elbow, and the gap to flat-down box, however).

Since you'll be here for a few days, i would check out both for sure, i just happen to like PC more.

absolutely. but given the choice between PC or canyons, more people tend to go to canyons. I rather enjoy brighton and alta.

Right now both have a pretty similar amount of good jibs set up. If you go to canyons make sure your skis are waxed though speed is rough there sometimes.

Or if you do have some skill get ready to deal with a bunch of gaper shit heads at canyons... either way it's pretty impossible to avoid shit heads these days. The ones at the canyons definitely have more of a tendency to interfere with your skiing experience though if you ask me.

ehhh its a different kind of interfere.. its more of a "douchebaggy/I think im better than everyone" interference at PC where as at canyons its more of an "I dont realize Im ruining the parks flow/ignorance" interference.. I would rather have number 2

are yall on spring break?i am so i'll be riding during the week so i suppose there might not be as many hecklers at PC as there would be on the weekends.

During the week you are golden, and honestly even on the busiest weekends the only shitty part is the lift line. If you flow the whole park you will hardly notice anyone. Although I did have to run over some kids skis to hit a down tube once.

I think PC may be the most fun it's been in a few years right now. You can't go wrong. I don't know how people hate on the vibe there.

Whether you're rolling solo or with a crew, it's way fun.

No idea I've had passes to PC and it's not any different. There might be a lot more pros and generally better skiiers but I've never been heckled or felt uncomfortable skiing park at PC...

Don't go to Canyons for park, i'd kill for a PC pass this year cause Canyons just straight sucks at park this year, so terribly disappointing

This is my first year here but I havn't had 1 day that wasn't fun. Not one person I have talked to, rode the lift with, or stood next to at a drop in has been a dick.

just got done skiing PC today, first time ever there and we are all from MN and I thought the vibe was great, it was warm and a fun day for park, we all had a blast.
even spotted eheath out with the camera.

yeah for sure.. freshman year of high school (like 5 years ago) I took a trip out and was riding through kings, threw a big one over one of the jumps which was immediately followed by a bunch of kids riding down and informing me to "get the fuck out the park if you can't cork".. needless to say this kinda killed my whole skiing experience there. Then like 2 years later, probably junior year, pretty much the same exact thing happened.. promised myself I would never go there again and maybe I just happened to be there on days that people decided to be douches.. I like when everyone is pumped on what everyone else is throwing and just really didnt like the whole "im better than you" mentality in skiing and I feel like that is exactly what PC is

wow, thats pretty rough. Don't blame you for having a poor perception of PC with an experience like that. I do however believe in second chances haha. If you enjoy skiing park I don't think you should settle for a worse park because you had a bad experience 5 and 3 years ago. Even if someone gives you a hard time, there are probably 30 other people that will be friendly. We are all just trying to have fun!

It sucks because the kids that say stuff like "stay out of the park if you can't cork" are likely/normally the gaperish kids who just ski through the park not hitting much, and think they're the best out.

At least he PC park isnt full of people who can barely ski wearing jeans and wedging it down the whole run, stopping and getting in peoples way and ruining the park which is already setup poorly.

nice edit!...caught me in the background in one of the shots I was wearing the black jacket with lime green pants.

PC was great, didn't experience any bashing from locals or anyone just a blast skiing nicely set up stuff, with a ton of other good park skiers.

My perseption....
I have skiied Utah for about 15 years and what I have noticed recently is that Park City has changed. First off the park this year is really good but is very different. It doesnt have as much randomness in features it is very "to the point " and well cut. I know that Park City has somewhat backcountry stuff on Jupiter bowl, but overall mas o menos. I have spent quite a bit of time at Canyons, and i am sorry to say eheath, you r right on some level, but the Canyons does have 9990 which is a sick part of the mountain. You can also find a lot of random cool tuff since the mountain is so nig at the canyons. As for their park, it is very nice. Very long and good features. However, their park, I feel, is a bit favored towards snowboarders since it has more of the snowboard type jibs, like the weird boxes. If you r spending time in actual Park City, I would spend most of the time in the Canyons, if u r looking for the good park day- Park City, and maybe spend one day at Deer Valley bc the food is hella goood their and also if u want I could let u know of some random sick spots their (especially in the trees). But of course if u r down for the drive hit up alta, snowbird, ect. (and the secret amazing resort that more people r starting to notice is Snowbasin)
