I live in kentucky, and i ski perfect north... but besides that....

I am a junior in high school and i want to apply to CU engineering school and i have the grades and whatnot.

but does anyone know the requirements for becoming a CO resident.

I want to take a year off after high school, i will be 18, and i want to get a place (appartment, house or whatever), and work for a year until the next fall term...

anyone done this?? ive been trying to find requirements, but i cannot find many reliable resources...

are you asking how long you have to live there to get insate tuition or are you asking what you have to do to move there

well your gonna need to get proof that you've lived there. Ex- lease with your name on it.
I'm not sure if its that easy but I know there's a few people here that have done this.

you have to lie there for a year with an address that you can receive mail at. so basically you just need to have a PO box/ address for a year

so you just need to move out there and receive mail and pay taxes for a year and you have instate tuition

no its not just that simple you also need to show proof that your parents havent supported you in any way over the year you live here which means the school is gonna look at your bills(rent and other shit) and compare that to how much money your making at your job and determine if you could do that yourself

nice.

thanks for the help soul skaters. this seems much easier than i anticipated, i will have a nice job and place to live. +k

check out colorado school of mines im from cincy and ski perfect too and next year ill be going there on a pretty deceent scholarship but still more than instate tuition

residintcy in co takes 1 year in state is about 26,000 out of state you can get into a lot of truble if you get cought doing it and will not be able to go to that cu if you found you faked it.

.....but he wouldn't be faking it. If you live in colorado for a year, you are a resident of Colorado. Even if he left CO for home every summer, as long as he maintains that adress (or PO box) he would still technically be allowed to do it.

true I have looked into this, one thing you can't do is work any where else and get a paycheck out of state you will get in truble for that.

They make it really difficult because they want the out-of-state money. You can live in Colorado for a year completely independent, and that can establish residency. However, you have to pay your tuition and provide proof that you earned the money (student loans are the best option. Have fun applying for those right now). If you receive any financial support from your parents, or if they claim you as a dependent, you don't apply. Good luck convincing your parents not to claim you as a dependent, seeing as they receive thousands of dollars in tax breaks because of it.

Im pretty sure its a bitch to do but you gotta stay in CO for a year self supporting yourself and then get your self emancipated and a buncha other shit

wrong first two links are for co state not cu. third one works
but as for getting the in state tuition its hard to do but not impossible i have several friends that did it. I was going to try and do it myself but my parents are too goody goody to try and cheat the system. but be warned they will look pretty in depth into your case to make sure you arent receiving help from your parents

Epic fail.

Residency requirements for in-state tuition are going to be universal between both schools as both are public Colorado schools.

Both sites provide the same information, with the second being more in-depth in regards to domicile.

i mean i would... but guess who has the higher ranked engineering skewl!

and i want aerospace sooo... lol. props to fort c tho

this may sound weird but i depending on what arizona school one has a ski resort like 2 hrs away or something. vaguly remember this from my search

I am graduating from there on May 8th. 5 years later.

Here are some tips, get a good group of friends there are a lot of fag nerds at Mines who will piss you off. You are not as smart as you think and will probably get dominated in some classes don't take too many credits. Look at the industry before you choose your major. Also look at where you want to live. Try to live in Mines park your freshman year, all the dorms kind of suck but whatever, if you get on a good floor it can be tight. And finally drink a lot and then laugh when your degree is worth 2x's as much as anyone else and you are the only one getting a job in a recession. Peace and good luck.

i just turned in my petition for instate tuition a month ago. think about it being a bitch to do then multiply that by 21161543. my petition was 294 pages altogether when i turned it

the domination will inevitably come in engineering...so will a salary that starts at twice what a business or finance or that other easy shit will start at. plus mines is one of the hardest engineering schools in the country so props to that degree.
