Impossible to balance glidecam

what model glidecam? did you read the instructions booklet? and it doesn't have to be 100% perfect, you use your second hand to direct the camera and keep it level if it starts to tilt

its a super steep learning curve. will probably take you a few hours your first time. hopefully you aren't just using the basic baseplate + screw + camera.

Its difficult to learn, you spent the money for a valuable piece of camera equipment, take the time to learn it, don't complain and go right to NS

And for what its worth, i am not entirely sure you should have gone with a 1000, could very well be the issue here.

No, the HD1000 is perfect. The 7D + Tokina is heavier than a d5100 + kit lens and the 7D is at the very bottom of the payload range for an HD2000.

OP, Glidecams can be frustrating at first, but a little patience goes a long way. There's a three-part video on Vimeo that has one of the guys from Glidecam giving a pretty in-depth tutorial on how to balance. After watching it, I nailed the balance perfectly.
 
Dude it takes me 5-10 minutes tops to balance it every time it really isn't that hard.. All it takes is a little practice.
 
i got my hd 1000 today! took me like 10 minutes and i got it sort of balenced, its not perfect but it works pretty darn good!! what quick release plate are you getting??
