Imma Fix the Economy mmka?

Step one.

outlaw most mechanized equipment. especially equipment that reduces the need for laborers.

IE riding lawn mowers that do 3 times the work of a push mower in half the time. it would be far far better to have a large un skilled labor force push mow all the grass in this country.

Another example, we would create an untold number of jobs in the country if we would DESTROY every combine and most heavy farm equipment. better to have 3 times the workers doing the work of one worker plus a combine.

next, airplanes would be regulated to a certain size (im thinking about 50 passengers) this would create more jobs in the airline industry, and would allow for more pilot hours to be flown, along with the subsequent ground operations.

(actually this ones real) freight trains would be limited in capacity, and speed. this would be done to further create jobs that are done away with when trains became faster and could carry more capacity.

basically, my plan is to cut production capacity in HALF then let man take the place of machine subsequently ending un employment thereby saving the economy for everyone.

Our country would be turned into a workers paradise where everyone would enjoy a new updated bill of rights seeking to bring a greater sense of brotherhood and equality to this nation.

FDR had it right when he proposed the following:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

this works right guyz?

feel free to add your own "imma fix the economy" suggestion.

this is where my mind goes when i get bored. scary isnt it?

Good stuff! In addition to adding jobs, doing away with tons of tools/machines/vehicles can help us stop global warming and save the world! Yaaaayyyy!!!

But not really.

lets force unproductive members of society out to other countries

helps us and if done correctly can hurt others

ACTUALLY im using twice as many pieces of equipment as before. because the equipment will be inferior to present day equipment thereby requiring more labor.

not to mention present day america is overly concerned with the environment. this is a simple by product of having basic needs met/ exceeded. under my plan i cannot say for sure if this would happen. my thought is that america will become far less idealistic.

also expect a reemergence of child labor (also a by product of plenty) because mechanized production would be slashed so greatly as to necessitate the working of children to help provide a basic sustenance for their families.

price controls. along with rampant inflation. doesnt really matter to me. just as long as my wages increase at or above the rate of inflation. the retired class that has money in the bank on the other hand..... but i dont care. i seriously doubt the old geezers will be much in the way of civil unrest. should be easy to control.

yeah at 6'3" i do not support this idea. RJ's are the worst thing to ever happen to the airline industry.

also, something to take into account when cutting the size of planes/freight, etc. while you are increasing in # of flights, and thus jobs, hours etc. you are also increasing costs a ton too. fuel, maintenance, etc.

my plan has this covered. as earlier outlined. stiff price controls would be enacted to protect "consumer rights" (LOL)

when the companies go bankrupt (as they most certainly will) they will be nationalized and everything will be taken care of.

you miss the point ben. i couldnt give to shits about true economic efficiency. im worried about the blue collar worker that has his bread buttered by jobs. whether or not that job actually makes a beneficial impact on society is irrelevant. there is an intrinsic RIGHT to a job.

the united states will be fundamentally transformed into Justin's utopian workers paradise;)

Dude, why didn't anybody else think of that? We improve the economy by decreasing productivity. And it's so simple too, we can model our economy after some other economies that function similarly. For instance, imaginationland.

feel free to tactfully discredit anything i have said. because in this post you did nothing of the sort.

i have already stated i care nothing for efficiency. im worried about creating full employment, full employment will stimulate demand, demand stimulates supply. eerr something like that.

its kinda funny though, because all those retards that bought first class tickets are getting the same size seat as you. i love the placebo effect!

Not that it makes sense to argue with you, but one question, do you enjoy skiing? Without the "corporations" there are no resorts.

.Dude, efficiency is what allows us leisure time. I won't say that the us could not function as you are suggesting, but I am saying it would not be better. Our society has the highest standard of living in the history of the world because of our high productivity and large amounts of leisure time. It is just plain stupid to do what you are suggesting.

Also, from an economic standpoint, you do not understand the effect that creating price ceilings on goods while cutting productivity would do. Mass economic failure would ensue because there wouldn't be the companies to produce the goods your society requires. Soon after, mass starvation. Finally, people would never accept this anyway as it is human nature to increase efficiency. If you can pick two berries at once instead of one, you will pick two and say fuck your government.

what happens when your leisure times surpasses mine? there must be a leveling of the outcomes in america. the rich are too rich and the poor to poor.

not to mention as i mentioned above with leisure time a thing of the past. topics such as human rights, child labor, environmentalism will all fall to the wayside. those are a byproduct of a self hating consumer society.

i trust the power of the federal government to fill the gaps where private industry fails. after all maybe you wont have your choice of luxury car vs normal car. but is that a choice you really deserve when there are people starving in the streets?

God, I can't do this anymore. I feel like you are messing with me. Indeed this would level incomes, we would all be poor.

And as for your second argument, I think you need help.

idealistic and far fetched at its best.

with such a great ammount of free time the masses would be left to contemplate their existence. (which is the servitude of fellow man and the party) once they grasped the meaningless of their own existence revolt cannot be far.

therefore i would prefer a slow gradual slide to my workers utopia where there is a subservient class and a ruling class. keeping the lower class ignorant to their own condition would provide the catalyst to keep them in place.

Yes, the point i was trying to hint at was that the venus project is just as stupid as your idea... although at least i'd be able to ski, rather than having to work all day and have no money.

All those corporations would just move their line of automated machinery to china or any country that lets you use machines. FAIL IDEA

So you're going to cut productivity in half, while raising company expenses a shit-ton because of the salary of all those workers plus benefits? where does all the extra money to pay these people come from?

i agree. dams are pretty, give people something to jump off of and create movie sets. dam it is.

why dont we burn all our technology and live in the stone age then there would be no economy to fix....

"next, airplanes would be regulated to a certain size (im thinking about 50 passengers) this would create more jobs in the airline industry, and would allow for more pilot hours to be flown, along with the subsequent ground operations."

That would have such tiny impact on the economy that no one would even notice. It would be really, really inconvenient though.
I like where your going though. I think we were all better off before the industrial revolution.

exactly. my plan is to simply reduce the number of more efficiency machines (machines that produce more) and replace them with machines that are interior. that way more workers will be needed to operate said machines.

why have one machine do the work of three machines with 1 worker when you could have 3 machines and 3 workers do the same amount of work?

Check this out though google Bill Clinton talking about the economy. He pretty much goes on a rant like you just did except for he says things that would actually totally work and are actually totally feasable.
Not taking a stab at you, but I was watching him on tv like 6 months ago and its the first time I've heard a feasable and smart solution for this problem come from a politician.

I have finals to study for and sadly will not be engaging in another episode of the somewhat ongoing AlexG vs skiminnesota debate, but i believe we should expand our scientific knowledge and figure out new technology and test new scientific theories and see what new possiblities there are in the scientific frontier. This will not only give us better intellectual direction and advantage over other countries, it will result in better new products coming out of the US (due to putting new scientific knowledge to economical and practical use). There is new scientific information and tests being done right now in Switzerland, when we could have had the same theories tested in the 80s when Reagan was president. With the new idea of a 4th dimension and all the other shit they are currently working on (won't go into detail not enough time, sorry but check out the Large Hadron Collider), we could make some serious progress and use that information to our advantage to create new products (which will naturally happen as new information is widely available and usable). We are working on some crazy shit, people are figuring out how to make real life invisibility cloaks, and some other crazy shit i can't even remember right now (check out Dr. Michio Kaku on youtube).
We also need to deport all the fucking mexicans and azns that aren't supposed to be here that are causing many job problems; they need to go back to their own countries. Yeah we're the land of the free or whatever but the extent that attitude has been taken has gone wayyy too far and we need to somehow regulate that shit. I feel terrible for the mexicans that have come here trying to make it but it's not our job to help them out when we need to take care of our own country before it goes down the shitter.

maybe i'll reply to whatever flaming disagreeing comment you post later tonight if we're lucky. i halfassed that response so don't bitch at me.

you guys all got trolled.

this is literally the biggest line of bullshit ive ever espoused on NS.

dont take any of it seriously. reducing the number of productive machines for less productive ones is absolutely asinine.

for the record i hate labor unions. lolololol

Alex, ive got finals too good luck. mine are all projects though so my weekend has literally been consumed by them ive gone outside 3 times in the last 3 days. lol NS is my escape from school! ahhh! haha

haha that's pussy shit, some of the theories regarding the creation of the universe (brane theory) claims to have 10+ dimensions.

yes but figuring out all 10 of those will take a fuckload time, we are in the process of figuring out string theory which regards the 4th dimension. once we figure this shit out and understand how to utilize this 4th dimension (and others consequently) we as a human race will progress so fucking much that just barely figuring out how to fix the economy will be a fucking joke of a problem to solve.

good luck to you as well!! im gonna need whatever luck I can get!! ski season fucked me hard this year schoolwise ahaha
i wish i could ski during study breaks but my fucking ski is broken so all i got is this and skate 2 :(

honestly the idea of dimensions above 4 screws with my head, but i do love the juxtaposition of physics and economics. one is trying to answer the truly massive important questions in life the other is just floundering around with false theorems and bad predictions.

ha ha yes so true, it seems as the study of economics is so irrelevant and is geared more towards a quick fix to our problems whereas once we understand all of physics we have the capacity to fix nearly everything. it's crazy thinking about the possibility of what kind of other sciences will arise and what kind of questions will be asked after physics is figured out, and maybe even how access to that knowledge will affect society economically as well.
