Image size - I've had enough!

This is probably my third or fourth thread on this topic, and I'll keep it short this time:

Pictures on NS are too low resolution and M&A is suffering from this. We can't our content decently with eachother, which totally blows. Make the width like 640px to start with. I've heard the resolutions were low because of internet connections, but we're 10 years further now and this shouldn't be a problem anymore.

On this topic I think you should be able to get the full res pic if you click on the thumbnail on mobile. You pretty much can't see anything when it comes to pics on mobile and this is not rectified by clicking.
 
Then the person who uploaded the photo didn't upload a large version. If you click it, it goes to the original photo
 
well when you click 'view fullsize' i sometimes have the issues where it re-sizes the picture to the popup window after loading the original so its about the same size of the photo on the page. Then I have to copy paste the URL from the popup back into a new browser tab to really see it at fullsize. This is using chrome btw

Still find the popup stupid if you still have to tell it to open in a new tab maybe if you could middleclick the link which opens things in a new tab in chrome, or could right click --> open in a new tab on the link itself, but the popup is pretty much completely useless imo
 
Bottom line is that it doesn't make any sense to go through all these steps when the pics could just be loaded at twice the resolution. Nobody has a dial-up connection anymore...
 
We're about to shift gears into a massive wave of summer development, which will include a lot of improvements. This summer we have cleared our plate of any new features and the idea is to simply focus on improving everything.

So I promise you, we recognize that this interface sucks and we will re-build it.

So lets take a turn in this thread... what is the ultimate image experience you could ask for? Also, what are lots of little suggestions around photos that you think could make it better?
 
can link your NS account to photo bucket or sites as such, making for easier embedding and maybe a simple edit tool.
 
I think its already easy enough. You just have to click on the image url and it copies it. You don't even have to right click to copy.
 
A few things I'd like:

- Horizontal edge of pictures at least 640px if not more

- Correct color representation. It's horrible right now

- Better integration of flickr in the site. When I grab the link for a picture and put it between tags it doesn't show up. It just says 'click image' (but in black - unclickable) so that's useless. I have to grab the BBCode and then delete some info, otherwise it shows up like this:

That's it for me. Basic, but good, quality image sharing is all I'm asking for.
