Alright NS, so I have had my hv30 now for almost two years. I am tired of capturing tapes and glitched footage.

It was just a month ago I got my heads professionally cleaned. I was filming a few days ago on a downrail and it literally took me 3 hours to do a hardway 2 in to a downrail /claim. I was so stoked when I landed it. Go to capture it right when I get home from skiing and it's all skippy basically unusable. FML I have had footage before ruined, but this took me over the edge.

So NS I need a new solid state camera I know I may get the odd problem with solid state, but it is more reliable. I can't edit AVCHD footage with the specs on my computer (1.66ghz dual core with 2gb of ram) so I don't know what cam to get. 600 or less would be great, but throw out what you think would be best. I have a hv30 and gopro right now and I am more of a guy who puts it on a tripod presses record and hikes nowadays because I like to film myself along with my friends. Also the odd tripod shot and follow cam on jumps. I'm planning on shooting just skiing. I don't need many manual controls, the amount of control on the hv30 was just fine.

So NS what do you recommend?

Yeah all the info I have looked at says you need a quad core processor with minimum 4gb of ram. If someone could give me some true info on AVCHD that would be great too.

you can always edit in a lower res then reconnect/media manage your way to a full resolution final export

but you might not want to fuck with the extra clicks.........

Meh, if you encode it with mpegstreamclip to a friendlier codec (h.264 mov or proress 442 lt) you should be able to edit with your computer. The info you saw was for raw avchd, which no one should edit with anyway.
