I'm stumped

Hey Gear Talk!

I usually don't like to ask questions about skis here, but i am officially stumped. I am looking for a pretty specific ski, and i had one in mind, but it turns out that it is not being produced until next year.

I am looking for a symmetrical or near-symmetrical ski that will ski park and all mountain. Preferably around 95-100 underfoot, with rocker. I am hoping for something soft and playful, and also light. I am 5' 9", around 180, and will be using this ski for mostly park and all mountain, but occasionally powder if we get anything that slightly resembles it here on the east, that i do not deem actually deep enough for my pow skis.

I h ave been looking at the Rossignol Scimitars. Has anybody skied t hem since they added rocker? Good choice?

If you find it, please tell me. I want exactly this ski. Most of the options I've looked at (ON3P JMO, Moment PB&J, Volkl Bridge and Rossi Scimitar) seem likely to be too stiff for my skinny self.

what happened to the pricey skis you got at windells? those were sick and what like 50 bucks? haha just use those. isk but maybe the bacons....idk if id get moments, they are really imperfect cuz they are handmade....at least mine are

my guess would be that those skis probably do not fit what he is looking for in a ski. otherwise if they were a ski to fit his specific needs/wants he prolly wouldnt have made this thread.

Line Blend sounds like what your looking for. If your looking for a little more all mountain/park oriented and your ok with camber chronic. Both great skis

Salomon 2012 are super playful, rockered, symmetrical twin thats 91 underfoot, maybe a little too skinny for what ur looking for

there are actually a lot of skis that fall into this range. the kung fujas would probably be a good choice since it's pretty close to symmetrical and is basically a wide park ski with rocker. the on3p jeffrey is 108 underfoot, true twin, and rocker camber rocker, and at your weight, definitely won't be too stiff for you, but i believe it only comes in a 186 which may be a bit longer than you're looking for. for what it's worth, i don't find the blends to be good for much aside from jumping, and if you're concerned about weight, they're thick and pretty heavy...

a real concern of mine is weight. a lot of the tricks I do involve a lot of twisting and turning which i cannot do on a heavy ski, hence why I have surfaces and I am looking at rossis. k2s aren't too heavy, are they?

Other than being symmetrical you basically described the Moment PB&J

- Near symmetrical

- 101 Underfoot

- Not a noodle, but one of their softer skis

- Mustache rocker

- All mountain ripper

"If you need one ski to do it all, you’ll love the PB&J. It has enough width for deep days, symmetrical flex and a forward mount for switch riding, plus MUSTACHE rocker/camber for dominating anything in between. Hand-crafted in Reno like every Moment ski, it’s a tasty homemade sandwich that will satisfy your one-ski-quiver appetite."

I have actually been looking at it.

Moments are super light, right? I skied on a pair of Reno Jibs once, they felt like I wasnt on skis.

This thread is good because I'm in the same boat. I too am looking at the PB&J. I am the same weight but I'm 6'1.

360's don't require a lot of twisting and turning

go to the fucking gym and stop worrying about ski weight, the only time it matters is if you are skinning. not to mention bindings play a larger role in weight then the ski it self. the only people that bitch about park ski weight are shitty skiers with no lower body strength

all that is is a tweaked out shifty, which is not hard to revert. like i said, go to the gym, loose some weight, gain some leg/core strength, and stop being a whiny bitch about park ski weight, it doesn't fucking matter if you are the good skier you seem to think you are

losing weight would actually make that trick harder. the skis would have the same rotational forces, but my body would be lighter, and be more affected by my skis turning. A heavier body, according Newton's second law, will require more energy to turn, so I could turn my legs just as much behind me, and my body would stay facing forward more.

doesn't 100 percent fit your request but the rossi s3 koopmans. They're fun, light, rockered, and fit your width requirements

Ya, i was also going to bring this up.Yes some skis are heavier than others, but honestly you wont fucking notice it. You can do gay shitfy taps on anything.

because you are weak

you ride surfaces with 185s, if you can do those gay ballerina tricks on those, then you will have no problem on anything else.

Cop some invader minis with salomon z10s, those will be money.

or get some real skis like s4s, or vices. My buddies were on vices last year and seemed to enjoy them alot. Like everyone else was saying though, weight won't be a big deal at all. You can do shifties on any park ski out there.

definately blends...soft and playful good for all mountain....slay park like witt foster and ever go for pow when you can get it
