I’m okay being a gaper

So after a few years of trying out goggle and helmet styles and different ways of wearing things, I’ve come to the conclusion that a helmet with ear pads and goggles over the helmet is just way more comfy and usable for me.

Goggles under the helmet looks better but has always been super uncomfortable for me. I also just get really tired of adjusting my beanie all the time and having my ears get cold while riding for a while.

I notice when I just had my ear pads on and my goggles over my helmet I quit worrying about what’s going on up there and am able to focus on and enjoy skiing more.

Make fun of me if want, but it just makes sense to me to look like a kook and be comfy than to try and be cool and uncomfortable.

Anyone else with me on this one?

Did you really make a thread to reassure your ego about the decision to wear goggles how they were intended? Ns is 50/50 on this subject, skiing as a whole I'd bet 90/10 over/under helmet. No one cares.

goggles under helmet has its own perks.

yea while most people do it for looks, it comes from function.

-you can pick your level of insulation without the crap in the helmet. warm day, just a buff. cold day, thick hat.

-you can put your helmet on and off without taking off your goggles

-you can go from no helmet to helmet without having to adjust the goggle strap

-you dont lose your goggles when you tommy

- you preserve your goggle strap over time

but yeah, when i was ski instructing and draggin kids around with a helmet all day long, i would go over. easier to take just the goggles off when youre warm or talking to people trying to establishing eye contact.

having you're pole straps makes you look like a poser. like, "oh guys wait up, i've got to put my pole straps on" at the top of the lift bc you think it's cool, like only pros have their straps on because they're skiing really tech terrain and can't afford to lose a pole... u gonna be looking silly when you fall and get a pole jammed in your eye because it was strapped to ur arm.

its ok nobody expects an intelligent answer from you

I'm not pro but I lost pole last weekend.

Eheath, yet again, missing my point completely.

no I didnt, you tried to act like you're smarter than the people in this thread and I was informing you that, in fact, you are not.

I don't have enough French fries to spell it out for you, but it was implied that myself contributing was adding to the retardation. Now do you want a boy or a girl toy with your happy meal explanation?

wow would you look at that, biffbarf detracting from the argument with a fat joke, classic smooth brain response.

wow. really getting personal over a joke, learn to take shit and move on.

Just to clear something up here…

I didn’t create this thread thinking people with a higher level of education would be commenting on it. I just wanted to know if anyone else was as big of a dork as me.

biffbarf is the worst though

I don’t get it. Is this supposed to be you?

Why would you post a pic of your reaction to when the Sundance channel plays Brokeback Mountain for the 3rd time in a row?

seems like you’d want to keep that a private thing but whatever floats your boat homie.

I’m in the lift line, some guy next to me comments on how my skis are cool. I immediately flick my eyes to his head and see a goggle strap on the outside of his helmet. I laugh under my breath, and ignore him.

As we get off the lift, I cut him off immediately and throw a sick 180 on a chunk of snow in front him, throwing him off balance and making him fall. Sorry, know your place champ.

My head hurts incredibly bad because I have forced the plastic part of my goggle strap under my helmet. I humbly laugh to myself again thinking about how much better I am than “the others”. My head is bleeding and red by the end of the day because of how tight I need to keep my goggles and helmet, but it’s a small price to pay. Just another day in the life. ??

Anyone else concerned that biffbarf apparently has a saved folder on his personal computer full of fat guys with their mouths open?

its honestly sad, the delusion runs deep with him. hes imagining everyone is dapping him up and giving him props on his sick burns, when in reality we're just watching a 12 year old in a middle 20s body with nothing better to do than upvote his own posts, downvote posts of people he dislikes and posts dumbass takes that nobody agrees with. He is actually the man in the photo, he is the one he fears the most.

Wait you don't put your pole straps on? Genuinely thought everyone did that. imo it is so much nicer not having to hold your poles so tight and be worried about dropping them. And you put them on before you get off the lift so you don't have to wait.

It's pretty normal in the park. They just get in the way when you fall.

That's fair, falling on poles in the park sucks. I use small ones or don't use them in the park. But still put the straps on when I have them, hate having to worry about dropping them.

? lol no offense but you must be new to skiing right?

if you have white knuckles at the end of the run from holding your poles so tight then... just don't. you should have the same grip you do with or without straps, because the purpose of the pole is the same, it's not like you can relax ur grip with the strap bc then the poles will just dangle.

you should know that it's no big deal if you drop the pole, just stop and go get it. in any case the only time i've ever dropped my poles is when i'm getting lazy on a catwalk/messing around and it's not a big deal if i drop it, not like i'm on a steep icy groomer or something.

no way you ride the lift with your poles strapped onto your hands lolll

If it takes you more than literally 5 seconds to put on pole straps then you have a motor skill issue, which doesn’t surprise me in your case

Can we get a compromise on this? Does anyone not also put the straps around their forehand (across the knuckles, without thumb)? Saves you from losing a pole at all but if you fall or on a cat track, you're not gonna get a pole to the face or break your thumb.

I hucked a drop to flat last year on a low light day. Just about slammed my pole into my goggles.

It knocked the lens and frame clean but nothing broke surprisingly. Another dub for Oakley’s I guess, but now I never use straps

Yea they're a really bad idea if you are serious about park/cliff drops. Why would anyone want to be tethered to a spear when your trying to bail out of a cork or fuck something up?

Having goggles under the helmet is like one of those bird mating calls. How else am I supposed to know we're gunna become best friends

damn dude, every time you post in this thread you show your ignorance

That's exactly what using the strap (correctly) allows.

i knew that typing that might have confused someone - your grip should be the same no matter what. as in, my grip is not extraordinarily tight when i don't have straps on, and i don't know why it would be any tighter then with the straps, it's just secure.

Ok my original point wasn’t straps on vs dangling it was straps on vs just cut them off instead of dangling cause that looks stupid
