yes I know it is a snowboard site but they are good people..and for some good tips to BC spots and what not around the Western WA area at large they are good to know and hook up with...you'll figure it out
hows the terrain? I saw it has a pretty low elevation...is the resorts location to the actually mount baker similar to that of mt hood ski bowl and mount hood
baker gets the most snow in the united states man. the backcountry is pretty hard to top as well. At the top, it is alpine; no trees.
its location to the actual mountain is further than that of say Timberline or Mt. Hood Meadows to Mt. Hood. It's on a ridge several miles from the mountain, but thats a good thing, because baker creates weather for it. hell, baker still has over a 200" base.
Baker is the shit if your into riding big mtn, and have the patience and respect for a mtn of this nature. If not than it isnt the place for you. Every year at least one person dies here because they are not thinking. We had 3 deaths inbounds this year and another in the backcountry. You will have to have a tranciever, probe and shovel, and know how to use it. Take an avy class in the fall. If you have your shit together and are not moving here to be a jibber than you will love it.
Just remeber Baker is the only TRUE EXPERTS ONLY AREA in N.A. and the demands the respect for the mtn that that entails.
grant dont forget that baker holds the world record snowfall, highest ever recorded total snow fall in the world, ever, above 1100in. Just dont expect to much park riding, if it snows more then 6 inches, the park will be closed.
