Im giving up on snowboarding to ski

After a few years of not enjoying snowboarding i've decided to start freeskiing. I've been stoked on skiing for like 2 years, and for a little while it re-ignited my love of snowboarding because skiing influence helped me come up with some new tricks and and things but after 2 years it also got way boring and snowboarding got even more played out and whatever i've decided its time.

long story short, gimmie some advise

umm.. thanksssss

naw g it aint goin down like that, like i said i've ben way way into skiing for a while now plus every other kid in my posse skis so assured no noobishness

Ummm Foot locks are everything for switchups.Have fun, don't just stay in the park all day even though park is super fun.

i feel like once you get use to it a lot of your snowboarding experience is gonna transfer over and it will be easier

Ya dude its so important to get the fundamentals of just skiing. I have friends in the same situation who just started to ski or swiched to skiing. They can shred the park but they have no clue what thier doing once there skiing the trees, moguls,or any other terrain. But props for making the swich and good luck.

for real? not that skiing isnt dope, but im pretty sure ive seen ya at springs slaaayin, u already ahead of the game, why stop now

Yes learn to ski before you ride in the park.. I learned to ride park before I learned to ski basically haha. I also switch from boarding to skiing and I love being able to do both pretty well now. Skiing is more fun in park but I could never pass up a soft pow day and a snowboard

Fuck it dude, get a Flying V and snowboard. Hell, i might even buy one this year just to dick around on. The camber profile is so gnarly.

I'm just over it, all the snowboarders at springs talk shit behind my back (Well besides Sam Spurling... hes a true G) anyway because all my homeys ski and everyone at springs hates the SPHC. So I mean, why keep beating a dead horse? Ill still compete and try to win stuff on the shralpstick but im concentrating 95% of my riding this year to skiing

DETERMINED!

Awesome man. Good to see you have a positive attitude about it too! You have a solid snowboarding background obviously so you should pick it up pretty easily. Things like balance, carving, weight transfer will all come pretty naturally...

Like others have mentioned, do yourself a favor and stay out of the park for a while. Just enjoy the learning aspects of the sport. Work on your weight transfers which most people here probably didn't really learn about since they probably all started on parabolic skis. Work on shifting your weight from your downhill ski to the other ski as you make turns. Work on linking short turns to long sweeping turns and back again. Challenge yourself to find the limits of your edging ability. Work on separating your lower body from your upper body movements. Get some free lessons online and work on some drills. Like holding your poles up and framing out an area, then make some tight turns without the area between your poles changing (seperates your lower body from your upper). Hit up a lesson, even if you do only 1. Work on increasing your speed. Take your short turns to the moguls, they are great for balance agility and quickness. Take it to the park and have fun. Good luck!

i mean, for what its worth i've made it from the top to the bottom of the life on skis with snowboard boots clicked into to ultra-dimmed bindings several times carving, no pizza. But yeah i plan on spending all the time working on form and technique whenever im not in the park, like between the lift and the park, and the park and the next park, and there to the lift haha. I cant help it, i'm so fiendish to try my tramp/diveskillz on some poppy booters eh

headshot!

you will more than likely pick it up realll fast. my brother kills it on a board. he got the hang of skiing in a hour. it's tons easier than snowboarding, i don't care what anyone says.

I did this like 2 or 3 years ago, best decision I've ever made so sure. The one piece of advise is that, no matter how tempting it is, learn to ski groomers first, then go into the park. It may be annoying as hell in the beginning, but it will help SO much once you get in the park. After you feel a bit more comfortable on skis on groomers then you can start take the odd lap in the park - but only once every few runs, then eventually you'll get better and be able to really give park a good run and then really become a park rat. Good luck man, and remember, take it love and get your confidence up and you'll have the time of you life.
