I’m getting audited

In NZ they did it all for me. i just received the refund. Didn’t have to file a thing. I could dispute if I wanted. In Australia, it was all in a central database. I just verified and sent it off.

USA makes us do our own taxes because of accounting firms and tax lobbyists. Takes about 2 seconds of googling. H&R Block, Turbotax, etc etc
https://www.propublica.org/article/...mericans-from-filing-their-taxes-for-free/amp

and because if you know how to do them you can save yourself a lot of money.

I'd rather try to beat the system than have them tell me I owe 40% of my paycheck like Australia. Fuck that

100%. And they should teach tax law in public schools so maybe there's a crumb of accountability. Wanting gov automation of taxes is sheepish.

It's sad that you think wanting people to understand tax law is weird tbh. Blissful ignorance I guess.

you might be the dumbest person on this website. i was talking about your constant paranoia about the government, its so god damn misplaced. I dont blame anyone for question their government or not trusting them, but they already fuck you over on taxes, its not like doing your own taxes changes anything, you cant just get away with ripping off the IRS, they know how much you owe and if they think anything you write off or claim is sus, you get audit and fucked in the ass by the law.

you guys turn my simple suggestion into a dumbass political take, I just think the government should give the IRS more money to handle simple taxes and actually staff their department to match the demand.

oMg hEs a cOmMiE He wAnTs tO GiVe tHe gOvErNmEnT MoRe pOwEr, you guys will literally turn anything into a political pissing contest. the government is here to help us, not hurt us, you fucking imbecile.

Might go in my signature tbh lmao

The government sure as shit 'helped' the operators slain in the bay of pigs.

The thousands of americans and the countless more civilians who died over seas in iraq and Afghanistan.

The south Vietnamese and the young american men drafted to bleed and die over a false flag in the gulf of tonkin.

The homeless and displaced experimented on with LSD unbeknownst to them.

The list goes on and on and on...

Yeah dude. Really helped the fuck out of them, if only they knew how much imbeciles they were for thinking otherwise.

The government can help but requires constant supervision. It's the difference between being a sovereign individual and a subject. Looks like some people prefer being subjugated tho.

But your argument is complete rubbish. If you're in the 22% tax bracket, you don't just owe 22%. There are tons of write offs and deductions you should be trying utilize. Your argument is literally for laziness and just blindly trusting the government.

And of course you're too thick headed to admit that.

the government and taxes are here to help us, you can go on your tyrade all you want, but in the end we created government to help society and its pretty obvious you don't trust the government so we will end our conversation here.

you're just willfully ignorant if you think the government doesn't serve an overall good purpose. there are plenty of things I disagree with about the government, but i'm one person, not everyone agrees, you're the one calling me closed minded and a sheep, fucking hypocrite.

it's almost like the government requires consistent scrupulous maintenance to ensure it has the people's best interests in mind. What a fucking concept.

So would you support just giving the government unrestricted access to your bank account and allowing them to just take out money automatically? I mean it's just taxes, and everyone pays them right? No need to even be involved or have an understanding of why.

How is the government here to help when congress only has a 20% approval rating. Honestly in its current form, fuck the government. Too many old farts in politics and too many people that lean too far one way or the other. Bipartisanship is at an all time low and because of this, an implosion is imminent. Im a libertarian so ill always think the government is doing too much, but I also blame our ability to step in places where we shouldnt be. The reason our military is so huge is because we think we still need to police the world and get caught up in sticky situations like with Ukraine. On another note, I paid my taxes in February so im all done for the year and in colorado, the Tabor credits are awesome, but they should be even bigger because the government just needs to stop spending money on pointless crap like wildlife overpasses like the one being built over I70. Completely useless. If I were a deer or a moose, I would just use an underpass highway exit at midnight. It already be chilly by the road at 7pm eating grass. Why build bridges for animals that probably wont use them anyways. It completely defeats the purpose of conservation because ground is displaced just to build the bridge lol.

Don't agree much with either side, but I think that there is something to be said for some sort of hybrid system.

What would be wrong with a system where I could just go online, see a number and if it looks right either pay or put in my direct deposit info if I'm getting a refund? And importantly I could just click a box and if I want to input more deductions, expenses, losses etc. etc. Similar to what everyone has to do now but not something that everyone needs.

Sorta fixes the problem the average W2 single filers have, which is the stress of "hey, if I put a number in the wrong box, or round incorrectly I'm going to have the IRS on my ass, because they know exactly what it is already".

I'd rather it be me verifying what the IRS says is the case than vice versa personally.

Would save me time, stress, and paying h&r block an arm and a leg to check my work and cover my ass

That’s a vast majority of it, just observations from being out there. Slc is much better

this is an awful assumption, there are tons of people who live in PC and aren't rich, not the "vast majority" rich people dont live here, they vacation here and own houses.

I will be moving back to SLC when I buy a home, I can't afford PC no shot.

irrelevant, i dont own it, i rent just like tons of other people who live in PC. stupid ass argument scott.

You can put in deductions in the Aussie system. Australia is very much a hybrid system of National & private companies in many things they do. NZ does taxes automatically, not Australia.

So you're saying you don't have to be wealthy to live in PC and yet you're moving to SLC, where its expensive to buy, because you cannot afford to live in PC. Got it. LOL

you're really losing your touch, your arguments used to have at least some sort of logic involved.

This thread is a shit show and I'm not disagreeing with you but if you think we are getting fucked now, you should look at historical tax rates over the last century. They're actually pretty low now compared to what they used to be.

Rich folk and corporations know how to game the system so not everyone is getting fucked. That's the big problem imo

My only point was that their small brains think that if the government did their taxes they wouldn't get as much money back, when infact you're already giving up a ton of money, mostly for good things. But I don't really feel like getting farther into it, arguing with morons gets pretty old.

Also 'get as much money back' is low income/dependant mentality. Enjoy the interest free loan you gave the fed while they devalued your cash over the year.

Have you done anything respectable in your life as an adult man? Or is 'head moderator' the peak?

what an awful comparison, did you just say only poor people want money back? you're trying way too hard dude, nobody respects your opinion nor do they care about anything you say.

my current association with this website has nothing to do with my career or my adult life, you're the loser who thinks you have to prove me wrong for some reason, while im merely shit talking you because well, you're a fucking idiot.
