Ifsa should limit cu freeski

I ski for fort Lewis freeride and almost nobody has gotten into a single collegiate ifsa comp all season because they instantly get filled up with cu freeski kids. Our San Juan local 1* comp at wolf creek had ZERO local fort lewis/durango competitors but 45/50 competitors were CU freeski kids. Every other collegiate freeride comp looks the same way, it’s usually 50-90% cu kids. Why doesn’t ifsa limit the amount of people from each college that can register? Especially when it’s an absolutely massive program like CU freeski with thousands of kids (our team has maybe 8) So far fort Lewis has only had one person get into any sort of comp this year and we’ve been registering for almost everything. Makes no sense to just have cu kids essentially competing against themselves

that does sound pretty fried... there are hella people on the CU freeride time and many of them are just ex racers that get fed tons of their parents money, let some other homies in.

It is a genuine issue, and it has been around for at least 8-9 years since when I started competing. Every comp we were in was also 80% CU kids, while we would struggle to get more than a couple kids signed up. It was really annoying to have a team full of kids that wanted to compete sitting on the sidelines, just to see 40 CU kids yelling and drinking at the top with their multiple coaches.

I honestly think they built some bots to sign up so fast. We would sign up as quick as possible, yet when we would see the list, it would conveniently already have 40 CU kids. Weird.

IMO we just need way more 1* comps overall

What he said.

I'm on the CU team and even though we do have a ton of kids taking up space in these comps, we just happen to have a way bigger team than every other school and there's just as many kids on our team who can't get into comps either. The kids who have been competing for a few seasons now are the ones consistently getting into comps but for unranked kids as well as people like myself who have only gotten to compete once or twice, it's been nearly impossible to get into comps. Obviously there's no easy solution because they can't let 150 male skiers into a comp or organize new competitions on a short notice, but the sport is growing a ton and IFSA doesn't seem like they're able to keep up.

The shit that happened with the Targhee 2* registration this morning was fucked up. While it benefitted me because I ended up getting in, I have a bunch of friends that straight up got kicked out of the comp because the event organizers fucked up the registration. And they didn't even fully refund their registration fees either. This whole season has been a shit show as far as registration fuck ups on IFSA's part.

Side note - how the hell was the park crew allowed to build three money booters on the Keystone 1* venue? I thought there were rules about not having any pre-built features on a freeride venue, as well as a ban on inverts in 1* comps. It was sick to see though, I just wish I had signed up for that one.

I got kicked out of targhee shit sucks

Sign up faster, you lazy prick. It doesn't matter how popular an event is because if you want to compete, you'll be damned sure to sign up. But yeah, keep blaming others for your own failures.

comp skiing is hella fun, sux that it's like that in CO. i've done 2 ifsa comps, one with 5 kids and the other with 7 lol (in the male 16-19 category). there are more kids in the nationals but even then there's still spots available.

they use bots lol

We don't use bots. Our team has 170 something members and most of them want to try their hand at big mountain skiing so of course there's gonna be a shit ton of CU kids signing up. We always tell kids to be ready on the website right when registration opens and refresh the hell outta the page, so if you're doing the same thing you have just as good of a chance at getting into 1*s as anyone else. If you're waiting around and registering later than that, that's your fault.

Funny, I was able to snag tickets to Rampage for 9 years straight, Nitro World Games every year in UT and entry to events like the North American Open at Breck despite them filling up within minutes.

Maybe that's just your excuse for being a lazy piece of shit. If you really want to compete, you'd dedicate that 5 minutes of your life to signing up when its available. But hey, keep coming up with excuses. Its easier after all, LOLLOL

Scottyboi we need to ride bikes together. Also L9 is really bad at sending out shipping confirmations. Are you able to get on that?

I get where your coming from but this is such a brain dead take. Unless IFSA is secretly giving Boulder kids easier access to registration the only thing unfair would be to “limit” them because they have more kids that wanna compete. If boulder has 200 kids that want to register and another school has 10 there’s obviously gonna be exponentially more boulder kids than any other school. Not sure why attaching kids to a certain school even matters since there’s no team points in IFSA so it’s pretty much just a bunch of individuals with some being on the same “team”. Go get 200 flc kids to try and register and I’m sure you’ll see an equal amount of flc and boulder kids at the next comp

This sounds exactly what a bot would sound like.
