If you’ve had Acl Op- Knee pop after surgery

Today marks 3 weeks since my acl got rebuilt. Leg accidentally extended fully and I heard a pop in my knee. No pain. I was still like “oh fuck I just tore it” and freaked out. Immediately felt better and found I was able to walk more normally. However I noticed it felt like it did pre-op when the ligament was torn. Tibia kinda movin around (not nearly as much tho) and knee feeling looser. No pain or additional swelling. Based on research and word from homies, I think it was just scar tissue breaking up/releasing. Also can’t imagine tearing the graft while my knee was in-line because the new acl is apparently very stretchy during this point in the recovery.

Going to PT tomorrow to get it checked out

thoughts? Info? Similar experiences? Drop em below plz.

Probably just busting up some scar tissue, you're not gonna tear it just extending.

A bit further in the healing process but I had the same thing. Most times I extended my leg fully I would hear a pop and would start worrying that I was tearing it again. It will probably last for a few weeks but then will gradually stop making noise/catching.

If you feel relatively normal and pain free after then you probably didn’t bust the graft or tweak anything else...

probably just scar tissue/fluid/facia starting to work it’s way out... knee will be doing that for a while, as you regain mobility/function.

My left knee pops a ton after having a reconstruction and a minor miniscus scope on it. My hamstring graft lasted me 10 years of sending and playing sports, just blew it out again ? getting the quadriceps rigged up in 2 weeks ... looking forward to being in your position 3 weeks out good luck ??

I’d had the same thing happen a few times when I was healing up, doctor also said it could be because of the meniscus damage and the knee kind of popping around a bit
