If you could design any feature...

If you were given the opportunity to design a feature in your park (or any park), what would you design/build and why?

Ill go first-

A pole jam but with a super fat box... making nose butters and Tokyo drifts easy as can be

this was a popular feature for a hot second in the 2000s, it's called a butter box and yeah they should make a comeback 100%

Some kind of upside-down rainbow rail probably.

these also used to be more popular, we called it a teacup rail at my home mountain

they are super easy to eat shit on. if you don't lean forward in the beginning, you slip out and get absolutely demolished by the second half of the rail. if you have too much speed you gap to the bottom and get wrecked. but if you hit it just right they are sick for doing spins off. still though, they are pretty sketchy

flat tube on the knuckle of a big jump like the one at super unknown lsat year. That was one of the most fun rails I ever hit. I hope Eldora brings it back but they probably won't

Like a 30-40 foot Midfat dfd rail/tube

S Tube and I would cream. Park city has a C tube so someone’s gotta make it happen.

also the 23x firecracker trollhaugen just made looks dreamy. Imagine the auditory satisfaction of just straight sliding that thing. I’d pause my music rolling up to that rail.

Wild mtn and buck hill. Brighton too.

I think the fat tube s rail could be insane for some weird combos. Obviously they are very difficult to manufacture.

There is one at Sunshine. Fun rail but hard to do switch ups or spins on.

Every time I see the C tube I still wonder how the hell they fabricated that thing

I don’t know about now but, at least when I was at Northstar (and [tag=104058]@theabortionator[/tag] was shaping), Northstar had a lot of fun features like rails that split, rails on coils, and all sorts of creative stuff. I’d probably recreate the park from 2016-17 season if I could. So many hits in one run too

I was just maintaining things mostly. Set some rails but it was all off a plan.

Parks were super fun though. I miss that place. That dfd z donkey tube is such a sick feature. Parks were always on point even in droughts.

Mammoth has one…

my park has a flat rainbow flat thing. It would be nice if it was bigger but its still cool.

Fat wf tube that's setup as a flat tube not a down tube. Would be so fun swapping off the drops.

But considering my park is jokes, any flat tube would be a dream feature for me this year.

id redesign bridgers park crew

As a former member of park crew 2016-2018(?) I totally feel the sentiment here. Features aren't it, layout isn't it, jumps pretty damn hit or miss. But I do have to say park crew gets about 0 help from Bridger as an organization, and they're extremely limited in what they can do with the space. Happy to dive into the intricacies of that space and why it's set up the way it is.

They've tried for years to get it moved somewhere legitimate where the setup could be a lot more open and adjustable (alpine, bridger midway, etc.) but again the organization won't give an inch. It sucks, and leads to the park being set the same way every year, all year. Trust me, being on park crew there is no easy task, and when Bridger doesn't want to help out or give some freedom it makes the job that much harder.

im guessing some old head makes the park every year, I feel bad for the park crew cause they're paid to literally rake lips that don't get worn down. I wish bridger would at least permit more use of their huge rail selection, there's so many high quality rails they could make use of elsewhere besides bridger. or even let us have our own bone zone at bridger in the pre season?

Park crew all has a say on the initial build, but there’s definitely a 2000’s way of building out features at Bridger that makes them less than ideal. Again, trust me, I pushed a while back for a more approachable fun park, with more flow/smaller features, but it just doesn’t really work with the space.

and having a bone zone style of park with the old gestures would be really sick, but another logistical nightmare trying to get the Bridger higher ups to allow it to happen.

My physical therapist has another patient with a torn acl from the same jump. That kid currently works at bridger and they still won't change the deadly jump

Not exactly the question you asked, but when I saw the snowboardcross at the olympics it made me really want something like that to be common at mountains. Obviously you see the slalom race tracks at a lot of places but I don't see why they can't have a cool long run with tons of wacky rollers and shit. Maybe they just figure people will crash into each other.

pumping rollers is so fun, there's a snowboard cross like hill at one of my locals Trollhaugen

snoqualmie has a snake tongue rail -

for a challenge rail I’d do a DFD off the left edge and an S rail off the other.
