All the jibber rats need to clean up their gangsta bullshit. I know superpipe in the Olympics is a hot topic in itself, but the announcers mentioned that Tanner wanted to see it in the Olympics (who knows if they just said that or he really does). But every shot on the camera and half the interviews were these kids thinking they are the shit, flashing signs etc. If skiing pipe goes to the world stage, these antics can't go along with it.

i think the olypics will fuck us, i mean look what they did for snowboarding, now its the 'cool' thing to do, and really i dont want skiing to be cool, id rather a couple of snowboarders tell me off than our sport turn into some conformist 'hot topic'

snowboarding was the cool thing to do way before it was in the olympics. and now it seems as though snowboarding is dying down a little and things are evening up between skiing and snowboarding, either is just as cool.

^ no, the Olympics no longer has introductory or 'demonstration' events. You are either in or out. The only way for it to get in the Olympics is for FIS to push it in, since they are the only governing body in skiing that the IOC recognizes (in fact many people in FIS are also in the IOC). This is why Tanner and many of the pros are now doing FIS events. First the FIS events have to become succesful, if that happens, then FIS will probably try to put it in the Olympics.

I heard some skiers wouldnt do FIS events because they dont want it to turn into freestyle where FIS tells you a certain way to do every trick. FIS looks less at height and more at style and consistancy.

The reason why I was under the impression is because my friend had an invitation to represent united states, along with a number of the pros to start going out to switzerland and a few other places to train in halfpipe. They had already gone, and the FIS had supported it. I was told it was for the next winter olympics. But who knows, that effort may have stopped there and not gone anywhere past it.. which could be why they are now pushing for 2010.

it would be cool to see it in the olympics, but I'd have to say, skiers really need to step it up in the pipe. Looking at pipe right now, it wouldn't be too hard for any young up and comer to make it by skiing pipe

I heard that it will be up for the 2010 in vancouver, or they are thinkin of presentin it then, i guess it will happen as the fis is work on it at this time. all in all it will be good for the industry, although lots of you don't agree

What Lanks said about skiercross getting in before pipe is true...at the moment. This is because FIS world Cup skiercross events are succeeding right now, therefore FIS is motivated to submit that sport to the IOC. However... if all of the top pros start doing the FIS World Cup pipe events, making it a credible circuit and pulling in crowds, then FIS may decide to move forward with pipe as well. So it truly is in the hands of the athletes at this point.

 
danny kass won the silver and was under the impression that he liked the reefer just as much as tanner, so it shouldnt be a big problem,
