Obviously not the correct language but I had to dumb it down. When your inbox is empty it should point to message history. It's not hard to code at all but would be very handy. Also an ajax message indicator would be pretty sweet too but that's a little more complicated.
 
why is everything on the future 'to do list'
how about a today 'to do list?'
life goes better when you do it right the first time.
 
for example the photo uploader still sucks,
and so does the search bar, We have only been asking for a better one of those for the last 4 years.
 
You're always so pissy. There are priorities. They've done away with the google search and anything more than what they have now is complicated. I wouldn't mind a minor release of small features like this. I would put search into a major release though.
 
you cant really compare changing the searchbar with changing the NS logo - the firmer is CLEARLY more complex to get done.
 
I guess what I am trying to complain about is the reworking of a bunch of small things here and there rather then tackling the real problems.
 
I guess people really don't realize what it takes to design, develop and maintain a site this large that isn't based on off the shelf software. The latest update was MONTHS in the making, and many things were ripped out and built basically from scratch. The new uploader is the same thing, you can't just drop in a new one as not only does it affect how media is uploaded to the server, it has a domino effect that basically affects everything on the site having to do with images and videos. That one is in the works, and already has hundreds of hours into it. Everything takes time, and while we want to hear your requests for features, constant demands and expectations from you guys are often unreasonable without knowing the true extent of the work. Hope you can all understand how much work paul and his team put into NS, even if its not always obvious.
 
i completely appreciate what you guys are doing, but i have to agree with cobra commander on this to some degree, as well as the OP.
you guys are doing an amazing job, and i hate to bitch about things like this, because skiing is basically my life, and NS is what directly connects me with that when i'm not on the mountain... but it seems like a few priorities could be changed.
i'm really glad you got rid of the google searchbar, and the new one (old one) is great. but realistically, changing the speed of uploading videos and pictures shouldn't be a super top priority IN MY OPINION. now maybe it is for some people, but i've never had a problem with waiting a few minutes for my edits to upload.
a list of things that i think could be worked on are:

what the OP said, it's small, but kinda annoying. hahaand some other stuff i can't think of. haha. i'll post in this thread in a little when i think about it
 
Ever thought about open sourcing it? It would still require some work on your end but if you have a few people putting their time into it too, it will take a lot less time.
