If a jump was a rail

If you hit it sideways with this mentality you’re either going to have the gnarliest edge catch of your life or slip out.

i wouldn’t think like that honestly lol. just think you’re gonna hit a normal rail honestly

so if I can hit a jump, I can totally hit a rainbow rail, right ?

Rainbow rails are intimidating at first but as long as you've got your speed and confidence dialed they're not that hard

why tho ? if I come into it really fast, and pop like I'm hitting a jump - then I can probably just air over it and barely skim the top

that's how I picture it in my head at least lol

If you go that fast and don't air over it or slide it well, you're gonna be in trouble. Honestly just hit it like a normal rail. If you have hit any up rails, it's just like that only better. Rainbows lowkey my favorite type of rail.

depends on the lip but yeah in a lot of cases you're exactly right

if it's a lip like the one in the crash video a few replies above me, it might not work like that. rainbow rails are mad fun and generally pretty easy but a tough/flat/small lip can make all the difference

Yeah if the lip isnt absolute garbage then you should be able to get up on it. The lip in my video above was beat down all day so i wasnt able to get the pop that i was looking for. I probably would have been better off hitting it alittle slower too but that was my first time trying it without watching anyone else to see how much speed they’re getting on the inrun

I feel like 99% of rainbow rails I've hit have had terrible lips. Since the mid 2000s most park features have gotten way better, especially rails. But rainbow rails always seem to be fucked and set up terrible wherever I go. Has anyone else experienced this??

A lot of the time I feel like they are built for snowboarders so they can just ride on and 50/50 it

my complaint is that the lip is always too low or too sudden. almost every park crew now knows how to build decent lips for flat and down rails but a good rainbow rail is rare

This sounds as logical as when, the day after I learned backflips some guys convinced me that if I threw it the same way on the big jump I would do a double because the jump was twice the size... Didn't go well
