Ideal height/weight for skiing?

see that is what im saying, he slays just as hard as anybody, and he is BIG. i mean i see why people think its a disadvantage but...

you want to be short and light to have a low center of gravity and be more agile. Take all professional gymnast for example, they are all short and light as possible. This makes it easier to flip, spin and balance because you just have less mass to move around.... I'm 6' and about 170....I fail lol....but there are always exceptions, like look at tony hawk, he's tall as fuck!

taller = easier to get on rails
Heavier = go bigger
more powerful in proportion = jump higher and drive harder

so id say being taller, dense/powerful, yet still agile is the best body for skiing.

Im 6' and 180lbs

when your legs are shorter its easier to get grabs so i say the shorter the better just start lifting weights so that you can get more power out of your pop no matter what size you are you can be successful. DONT EVER LET ANYBODY TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE TOO SMALL, KIDS!

hahaha but hes also skinny as fuck.
and as mentioned andreas is huuuuge
but then you have dumont whose a midget

the gymnast thing only kinda works. I was a gymnast for 12 years. It's great for starting because you have balance and air sense, so learning rails and jumps starts easier. But making your style looser is hard since it's been pounded into us to have tight, stiff, straight form. It takes a while to unlearn gymnastics' setting/spinning techniques.

I think he meant something more along the lines of having the body of a gymnast, but skiing your whole life rather than being an actual gymnast.

i dont think it matters all that much. if your were meant to ski u were meant to ski. look at john sprigg, he fuckin kills it and he is a tall lanky fucker.

i have no idea.

im 5'8/9ish and 146 pounds and i have no problems usualy.

but a little a muscle never hurt anyone so dont think the lighter the bettter

It's really all about heart. Either that or the eye of the tiger. Random height and weight can't compete with the eye of the tiger.

well if your tlaking about andreas hatveit, he seems really strong since hes pretty ripped so its probaly not a problem for him

i know its definitely not 6'5" and 170 lbs. i swear i used to be so much better when i was younger. fuck my life

Im 5'7-5'8 150~ and it seems to be a slamming weight for me. Being short helps a shit load popping in and out of trees and shit.

I dont think there is one really. As long as you have a athletic build and are coordinated its all good. Like being fat isnt the best but it doesnt normally matter if your short or tall. But light isnt the answer. If your super small and light then alot of times it makes it hard to carry the speed into jumps if there not built right or with slight wind.

Liam Downey is like 6'5" isn't he? And he's still really stylie. I don't think it makes a huge amount of difference how big you are, you just need to know how to work with your body to make it work for you and your style.

honestly I don't think it matters too much. well ok, you can't be like 8 ft tall, or weight like 400 lbs. but I think anyone inbetween the normal skiers sizes. 140-210lbs. 5'4"-6'6". who is strong, in good shape, comfortable with the body, has good air sense, and trains alot. is going to be really good and really cordinated. so no, I don't think there is an ideal height and weight. but I think there is definetly an ideal shape to be in. as I just listed.

The height of your ambition, and the weight of your willpower mean much more than the dimensions of your physical frame..... (cue mystical "gong" sound)

well the taller I get the smaller all of the jumps seem wich makes it less scary if its huge but then you feel like a pussy cause everything you're doing feels small even if it really isnt

most of the people on here are tall and lanky mofo's, i think for big mountain skiing like 6 foot 180 with super strong legs and a low center of gravity, park probably 4'8 and 225

my bad.

but you're prob right still. i'm a compact, light person whose skied their whole life. and i'm prob. better becasuse i'm small

ideal size is bogus....doesn't change the fact that having pure skill rarely has to do with size

im 5'10 160 and still havent filled out fully and I only seem to get better at skiing not worse...

Size is a mental block

that guy could easily break dumonts record, he would just have to get 8 feet from the lip cuz he is like 35 feet high!

He shouldnt land on the lip cuz he would break as a chopstick if he would!
