Icelandic Gypsy SKNY

Hi NS,

Seen some 180 Icelandic SKNY's for sale that I may be able to pick up, competent skier, just getting into park and love all mountain skiing.

Just after any reviews or any info on what they're like.

Been after a fatter all mountain freestyle ski as my main ski atm is the AR7 which is too skinny for my liking out of the park. I'm after a ski that I can take into the park but still rip around on and with a 99mm waist it rings bells similar to Kartels, Blends, HG Tansfers, and Allplays.

The price looks alright and seen a fair few riders on Icelandic's but don't know too much about them.

Absolutely any info is always appreciated.

Cheers

Let me say that I have not ridden the SKNYs yet but if they're anything like the real Gypsys theyre going to be super fun. The 125 underfoot Gypsys are softer and more forgiving than most other pow skis out there. Their edge to edge is longer than other skis but thats part of all skis with a 120+ waist. That being said however, their ability to pivot and butter super easily is thanks to their fully Reverse Camber profile. That pretty much means its all rocker. The SKNYs have adopted the Gypsys turn radius of 22m which is high if your using this as a park ski but if you can pivot these skis they're going to be fun as hell.

Here's Icelantics Chirp about them -

"The thinner counterpart to Icelantic's Gypsy, our SKNY

model has the same flex, sidecut radius and camber profile,

all with a 99mm waist. The Gypsy SKNY engages the entire edge of the ski when you roll it over, enabling it to perform like it's on rails! With its friendly flex and playful reverse camber, the Gypsy SKNY transforms any mountain into your personal playground."

Here's a review that I'd trust -

If you want any additional info, I can give you specifics from my experience with the 125 underfoot version.

Thanks for the info.

I ski park on 181 AR7s which have a 21.5 radius and i centre mounted them so I don't think the radius will be too much of an issue!

From what you've said these sound like they might fit the bill. I'd love to get some Blends or Allplays but these are looking like a cheaper alternative.

If they're buttery and easy to pivot they sound like a ski I'll like.

If anyone else can add to this info it's always appreciated.

I just got a pair. PM me in a few weeks and I should be able to give you a pretty decent review on them. They look like a pretty freaking perfect ski for the skiing I like to do though.
