When you link infowars you automatically lose all credibility for future debates in threads. Unless you'll trolling then have at it.

Probally the only one who read the article but it is such bullshit, firstly the expenditure break down is from last year, which may not seem like a big deal and in most cases isn't, but when a charity fundraises several times more than they ever have in the past it is an unreasonable assumption to presume the expenditure break down will be the same. Secondly they try to make it seem like "fundraising costs" and "administrative costs" are unreasonably high while quietly ignore the huge amounts money theses employees have managed to raise this year through what the article refered to as marketing. Finally they go on to bash the organization for researching the cure because education about preventative measures is more important, for some reason the fact that currently their largest portion of expenses is education somehow isn't relevant.

Come on some people just have to be cynical assholes about everything and can never admit something is actually helping. Fact is this campaign has raised more money than every before for als( regardless of the portion spent) and far more importantly has spread awareness about a serious sickness very few people had ever heard about this time last year

The other big chunks of cash went to public education on als and direct help to patients. Both of those seem like pretty ok things for a nonprofit to do. And those executives should be paid, they're raising a ridiculous amount of money and actually doing what seems like good things with it. They could be making tons more doing marketing and coming up with ideas in giant for-profit corporations.

Giving money to charities like this one is like giving money to hobos, the money never goes towards something beneficial.

that's the jeebus spirit!

It's your money, do what you what want with it.

That being said, I wouldn't participate and wasn't nominated so I never had to say no.

you know, this stuff is generally pretty public information. they have information from 2012 and 2013 on their site. when you donate money to a charity or similar, you're giving them their money to whatever with. it's your job to find a good reputable charity. it doesn't even seem like they're spending it in a bad way. 27% towards research isn't a bad number and they aren't just blowing the rest. charities have expenses as well.

Just curious as to why you think infowars has zero credibility?

It's run by fucking Alex Jones! I'm curious as to why you think Infowars has ANY credibility?

Use charity navigator before making a donation. They do thorough examinations of non-profits and charity financials and rate them on financial responsibility, transparency, and accountability.

They have a perfect rating on a number of charity screening websites. In addition, I heard that a large portion of the money will be going to counseling of the ALS patients, as I can imagine the need for that is great.

Because my brain though fucked from head injuries and partying still works to some extent.

Also Alex Jones is a fucking douche. Gives anything he attaches himself to a bad name. Having a legitimate protest? Maybe alex jones will show up, be a douche and discredit the whole effort while "helping" the cause. The sites regularly post articles that are as true as most of the "based on a true story" movies if even that credible. In the world today everything is spun to shit and those sites manage to take it to another level past even the regular news which imo is shit.
