What's up everyone,
Can't even remember how long it's been since I posted in NSG. Anyway I just created a drinking app for the BlackBerry and other phones ( soon ) and could really use NS's help in promoting it. I would be the most grateful motherfucker alive if anyone who reads this could go "like" its page on Facebook, which you can do right from the main page of my website or searching "The iBlackout App" on FB.
The app is actually quite legit in my humble opinion if you feel like buying it. It tracks your location, calls, texts and BAC ( Blood Alcohol Content ) during a night out, all of which you can then view the next day in a damage report. You can also specify contacts (ex's etc.) that you want iBlackout to keep your from drunk dialing. It's only for BlackBerry right now but versions for other phones are on the way.

Thanks a lot guys. If his whole mobile development thing works out for me one of my eventual goals is to create an NS app for Android and BlackBerry to stand alongside iNS. (If anyone even wants it, the NS mobile site is pretty fantastically done)

Hahahah, epic win. Yeah I do, yourself? Bonus points if you can tell where on campus I live from that map.
 
You click a button depending on whether you had a shot/beer/wine. According to your weight + sex and the same formula DUI prosecution and defense attorneys use (Widmark, you can look it up) it keeps track of your BAC for you, depreciating it with time and all. As long as you click the button every time you take a drink the assessment it give you of your BAC is pretty much the most accurate you can get without blowing into anything.
 
Phi Kap actually. I've seen your name mentioned in the Colorado regionals (about all I check anymore), do you still go to DU?
 
Idea: create an ad supported free version for the touch phones. Drunk purple hit the ads, cause they have no accuracy, you profit.

I think this is a great idea and I know it would be helpful, and once it comes out on other phones i will definitely download

I think the karma system as an incentive is pretty ridiculous, but I'll +K anyone who even posts in this thread. EXPOSURE FTW ( Peter gets real life karma though because he's a champ apparently )
 
Actually the app was free with ads for about a month on FB to mostly kids at DU while I worked out the bugs. Not a single person clicked a single damn ad. I blame the BlackBerry Advertising Service, it's shitty as fuck, can't even provide ads like 80% of the time. If there was some way to work directly with advertisers to provide localize ads I would be soooooooooo happy.
 
Yeah a kid's working on the Windows 7 phone version, I'm half-heartedly working on an Android version (i fucking hate reinventing the wheel) and I'm in negotiations with a few kids around here to do an iPhone version, necessary because apparently iPhones are just serious business.

Depends on whether I can find an Android developer or a LOT of free time to learn a new platform. With finals and snowball coming up I'm pretty much swamped. (SNOWBALL SNOWBALL SNOWBALL!)

So do you have to select from a drink list or is there just a random "Took a drink" button to press? The latter makes it sounds like your BAC wouldn't be entirely correct, but I'm liking the idea if it would create some kind of scrapbook, complete with photos.

Very good idea, hope this goes somewhere.
 
I'll probably have to start working on keeping track of my phone in the first place before I can handle this when I'm drinking
 
this is such a sick idea! I'm getting a new BB tomorrow and I definitely have some friends who would LOVE this. I'll spread the word!
 
will you post when it will be for droids? thanks and i told some of my family who is 21+ and has a blackberry... they love it.
 
Your only choices are a shot/drink/glass of wine at this point. It's definitely not entirely accurate but I think's it's about as accurate as possible considering the limitations. I was thinking about adding heavy beer, double shots, etc but then I'd have to draw new icons and I'm a terrible artist haha.

Haha, I was thinking about adding a feature that would let you find your phone if you lost it the night before with iBlackout running. The only thing is that would require me to store people's locations in a database on my website, which I find kind of sketchy.

BANGER kind of math nerd idea here. You can buy portable breathalyzers for like 40 dollars, and you could calibrate your BAC vs drinks and fucking profit.
TL;DR 1. buy breathalyzer2. get drunk3. have ur fuckin blackburry messenger calibrate that shit4. ????5. PRAWFIT
