It's all good up here in Hokkaido. It's like nothing has happened. Been skiing since the earthquake, and a few resorts will be open till early May.
A few of the resorts down in Fukushima got messed up and around there have lost a few lift towers etc, but some things are still open. (Less and less now, due to the season coming to an end, and generally people not wanting to ski)

Where are the best cities to live in for skiing? I would love to take up an international engineering job but are any great ski spots that merge high technology research with bad ass skiing locations?

Sapporo for deep snow and close proximity. Tokyo for bigger terrain but a longer train ride
