Am i the only one who thinks Blink 182 sucks, I put them in the category of Boy Band cuz they are puppets to MTV and all the little 13 year old girls watching it, heck, people grandmas listen to blink 182, i hate all popular groups like that, i refuse to listen to the radio anymore cuz of groups like blink 182 and crap like that, groups like Blink 182 only egt dumber as the years go by, but i wil giev them credit for one thing, they have more many than all of us combined on this site, all i can say is that you CANT call them musicians by ANY means

ok, yaeh thats rtue, but still, i dont think they neccasarily write their own stuff anymore and they are just getting old, for goodness sakes i have seen lucnh boxes of them, once a band reaches that stage, i lose almost all respect for them

 
I don't really like them either. It's mainly because of their music though. They aren't real punk, its pop-punk. They do get alot of people interested in punk though, which is a good thing. They start with Blink and move to something a bit heavier.

i agree they do suck, but i used to like them, then i started to find all these other bands, and when i compared them to the newly found bands, i realized they sucked...but they are pretty funny

I used to not like them, and I still don't think too much of them as actual people, personality-wise... but musically, although their stuff isn't the greatest skill-wise, it's still catchy and well-done (I think) as good songs. The drummer is insanely talented... and although I don't correspond with any of their values or basic stupidity, I still can't resist turning up the radio when I hear a Blink song. Call me an in-the-closet Blink fan.

yeah i think they have talent, like travis is insane, but they just kinda went the wrong direction...but maybe they wanted just to make money and become famous, just dont hate bands when they get popular, hate em cause they're music

ok just cuz some1 gets popular u cant start hating on them? im not into that music so i dotn like em much, but for rap i can say i like more of the undergrond shit but i alwase catch myself wachign the jarule video o jay-z song on tv... i dont think they have as much talent but its catchy

 
Sometimes I go over my friends house, he'll bring me into his computer room and turn on kazaa or whatever, he'll scroll down while telling me about this awesome underground band hes found, click on a song, and I will proceed to cover my ears. I mean, it's shit. Then I will scroll up and turn on a song by a band that's been on MTV, or has had a couple of radio hits, my god it will sound so much better in comparison.

Really, I don't care if something is played on MTV or on the radio, actually that just gets there sound out to more people, gets them heard.

I am not a fan of blink 182, but I would say they are musicians. I seriously doubt that they don't write their own songs, they haven't gotten to that point. I do enjoy some of there songs, but they are nothing I can get really into.

Really I don't care if a band starts to be on the radio and mtv as long as they are doing their thing, and that thing is not playing music just to get popular through TV and radio. I am sick of people talking about sellouts...that word is used too often and with no tact. I am sick of people saying 'that's not really punk man' or 'that's pop-punk'...YOU GUYS SOUND LIKE JACKASSES!!!

 
theres probably a good reason your name is oevrlooked buddy, i am the complete opposite, all the radio and MTV crap all sound the same, their songs are made with formulas, yeah 3 or four chords, heck, even i can play their music, the kid next door can, i mean honestly, a lot of this underground stuff i listen to their music is so complex and it is impossible to duplicate and its original and fresh. The popculture totally ruins what good stuff there really is out there, and i neevr want any of my underground music to go big becuz then there not who they really are anymore.

well, blinks style has def. changed to pop and thats what constitutes as a true sellout, changing your style to make more dough. if you cant make it big and/or have a good time doing your style, you prob. should just find something else.

Its just because they are produced so well. Thats the sound that the studio gives them.

Their drummer is also ridiculous, he's REALLY good. But really, you cant blame them for shit like that. I mean if a studio tells you that they want to spend 250k to make you sound great and so that radio stations will play you and MTV and music channels will too, are you gonna say no? Just like you wouldnt say no if someone asked you to be a pro skier.

I am for underground music just as much as the next kid who claims to be indie. I love so many bands that are unheard of in the mainstream...but there are some bands that do make it big that rock just the same. Weezer is an awesome band, there music has changed, but still...there first cd was the one that sold the most copies and it friggin rocked.

the White Stripes, the Hives, the Vines and the Strokes....these retro alt rock bands coming out are all great bands and all have videos with at least a small rotation on MTV....

I am not an advocate of bands going mainstream, but if it happens, it happens...

I am not a scenist, so I don't care if other people know about the music I like.

 
I agree.. but if something is totally off-key then how can it be considered good? haha I guess you can't tell people that they don't know how to listen to music... or can you?

I consider 95% of the music that people listen to on this site as being absolute shit, but that is my opinion. Please revel in the fact that 'you' like 'good music' but keep the comments to yourself. All music is good to the right person.

Overlook just named some suck ass wanna be indie bands. Strokes blow big cock...their daddies got them major coverage before they ever played a show and all they had was a demo. If you were in a band and your dad was the CEO of a modeling agency with lots of connections in the rock world your band would do well too. The white stripes suck...their performance at the award show on MTV lays claim to the single worst pile of shit ever. They had a bunch of models they dressed up as mods (emo kids) who proceded to jump around like retards...oh they did through in the token fat chicks too. Plus it was terrible, they sounded like a couple of friends jamming in a garage as a goof. The Vines fuck them too...

I dont hate bands for becoming famous, I hate them for sucking. But this topic is retarded since we did this whole arguement a few months ago. So the kid who started this sucks too...hell everything sucks.

I don't care how the bands got famous or even if they do! You make a whole post about these bands and why they suck without even mentioning their music other then at the end? 'I hate them because they suck' (thats a loose quote) sure they may not have a lot of musical talent but that doesn't matter all the time. what about personality and song-writing?

we will never resolve anything like this...there are like 5 threads going on like this and they are all so repetetive...and I have contributed to the repetition in each, everyones keeping there opinion so it's kind of useless to fight about this...

Ultimately , I don't think music has much to do with big companys that produce it, music videos, music politics, whos underground, whos mainstream, whos band members are alchoholics and whos are straight edges....yeah they all may influnence the band...but really, for me, after I push through all the politics and shit it's about what sounds good and what doesn't....that's different for everyone...

i really like the strokes i guess they could rub you the wrong way and the white stripes are alright very simple, as for the hives i own their cd but its such a pain in the ass to listen to wayy to simple and shit, and the vines are pretty good
