I want to buy a console

Winter is coming, and skiing is not happening again this winter, so I'm thinking about buying an old tv and a system. At my parents house I have an xbox 360, ps1/2/3, but to be honest they were basically COD, crash bandicoot, GTA + SSX tricky, and netflix machines, so I don't know much about gaming on the whole. I'm done with fps, not interested in outright violence.

I was thinking of getting an old wii that can play gamecube games. I want it to be fun for the casual gamer, I'm not interested in game marathons or spending my weekends in front of the tv. I'm looking for a "slightly drunk, maybe I'll play some ... before bed", or "hey lets play this..." games that don't get me all worked up like cod does, and games that are made to play offline with people in the flesh. I don't know anything about gamecube or wii though, except wii bowling, I'm pretty good at that
 
I was a serious gamer back in the gamecube days. That console was the shit.

Smash bros, mario kart, mario party, soul calibur, time splitters, james bond, windwaker, and soooo many others. Great console. Still play mine occasionally.
 
Crash Bandicoot and SSX3 are other awesome games. And Sonic Adventure 2 battle.

Basically, I'm trying to say that an old wii is a great idea. Or just get a gamecube.
 
I thought about that, but the wii is smaller and better suited to 16:9 aspect ratios of lcd tvs. those games sound dope
 
Me and my roommates play smash for like an hour a day. Been going since the start of this semester and its only getting funner haha. Double dash is good too, some good drinking games for it. We play on GameCube but a Wii would be tight as well. I want to get some ssx going, that shits fun as hell
 
You have good taste! Every one of those games is a pure banger.

I've never tried this, but I can imagine Super Monkey Balls would be amazing drunk.
