I wanna Dirtbike in CO this summer

Yes I understand that it is wintertime but recently all I can think about it hitting the trails this spring and summer and just exploring CO. I grew up riding my dad's old Honda 70 and then my brother got a Honda250 but I'm still a newb when it comes to knowing your shit. I was hoping some of you could give me some pointers.

-I'll be in Boulder/Nederland and looking to explore some trails nearby/all around CO.

-Obviously the bike must be street-legal, with ability to carry gear.

-It''ll mainly be a trail bike, i'm not too concerned about speed or jumping stuff. (although a little juice is nice)

-I need something that is reliable and easy to learn on. (as far as the motor goes and working parts)

Anybody have any bike recommendations? What should I be looking for? Anything I should avoid? Pumped to do some exploring and learning. cheers guys!

Well if you're looking at a dirtbike that is street legal you'll have to get a dualsport. Honda makes a good bike, maybe just get a Honda CRF250L ? I've heard reviews of it and they've all been pretty positive.

I have a Yamaha XT225 that I drive around all summer and it's awesome. Has enough power to be fun, gets ridiculously good gas mileage, and can handle dirt roads/trails just as well as paved roads.

Look at yamaha wr250r or crf250l as mentioned above or a ktm 350 exc-f or 500 exc. If you have the money go with one of the ktms. If not the crf250l is a nice bike.

Wait yeah don't go with that. I didn't really read the post and didn't see that you were going to be riding mostly trails.

If you want something a little different...and with sexy Italian styling, look at an aprilla rxp 450 or 550. You can find super good deals on new ones on ebay, around $5000 for a new 2010 550.

All the jap bikes and ktm are good too but those aprilias are by far the best looking and fastest.

You could always just get a regular dirtbike and not get caught. Thats what i do in pa. But im not on the streets for to long.
