I swear I’m not starting beef

The only reason why you suffer (envy) is because you think things are real. If you think things are real, you cling to them and that affirms suffering. Nothing is real, let go and stop clinging, for a small donation you can have my book on how to be a good Hare Krishna. Namaste.

Everything in life is suffering and sorrow. The cause of suffering is people’s self centered desire. The way to end all suffering is to eliminate ones desire. Follow the EightFold path to reach nirvana and become one with the universe. -Siddhartha Gautama

I agree. Fuck poachers.

actually, me and my crew go to extreme lengths to protect hidden spots. First we name it something that has nothing to do with the area. Stuff like secret stash, playground, A-Line and B-Line.... on the hike in, we start about a mile away from the parking and head for the super dense trees and fuck around there a bit. Then pick some nasty ascents to show that there is nothing here. Once the skin track sucks, procede to real start of the hike and start it tough. After a half a mile, make it easier as you go up.

Last step is keeping it a secret. You can only ride it once a month with only your buddies. No one goes in alone and no one talks about it.

We have kept one spot a complete secret for the last 3 years. It almost got discovered by Jerries, but the gnar skin track defence worked and they bailed before it got good. Upon checking their tracks, they descended the worst shit imaginable

OP you'll have to be more specific. no don't worry i don't want your secret spot lol but did someone just beat you to the punch and didn't do it justice in your eyes? i don't get it

I've been researching Buddhism recently and I want your take. Does skiing only make me suffer more because I suffer when I am not skiing and want to (desire), I suffer when skiing ends (suffering of suffering), I suffer trying to get up to the mtn. etc. Is it possible to achieve enlightenment and still have passions such as skiing???

I was taking the piss in my first response to this thread, nevertheless here’s a serious answer;

You only suffer because you are clinging to emotions (desire, like you said) You cling to things because you think they’re real....... this applies to EVERY emotion even happiness itself, even awareness of your happiness (even awareness of your awareness and so on to infinite) None of it is real.

It’s good to think of it like stones (external events) being dropped into a lake (your mind) at first you might be sad when skiing ends, which is akin to a boulder being dropped, with long lasting ripples (suffering) but as you learn to let go, the boulders become smaller, the ripples less painful. Eventually nothing effects you and you can open your heart to love and doing what you’re best at in life, play the character that best suits you! (I know that part about love is contradictory, but the universe is infinite and infinite wouldn’t be infinite without paradoxes)

there was a quote about mountains that went like: to the monk at first the mountain is a mountain, then it is not a mountain finally he realises it is, a mountain.

I like the idea of boulders and ripples. Thank you.

Which comes from thousands of years of Buddhist teachings.

Ankillas intellectual and emotional characteristics are %1000 attributed to thousands of years of recreational drug development, parental incompetence and the everlasting incessant pollution of his lineage will surely be endless leading to a completely ignorant and naive offspring of self absorbed drug addled dumb dumbs

Thread is sad. This land is your land this land is my land.

I skiied the only good trail at Gunstock this weekend 20 times in 3 feet of perfect powder because it was closed. Righteous turns. Love me some ropes to give me my own trail.

Any idea why it was closed?

Only because they never open it.

The run out maybe not wanting gapers to get stuck?

You get a nice 1500 sq ft steep drop then all run out. Long run out but remember this is the trail right next to/under the lift.

Last time I went there 3 years ago plenty of coverage everything else open but this run wasn't.

Back in the day as a kid it was a super rocky trail at all times so somewhat ungroomable. There is also a good sized stream you have to hop in the runout.
