No more NASCAR. That shit waste so much fucking gas for just the pleasure of rednecks and it only gives people that can't do shit a job and a ton of money

dude thats just ignorant. I don't like NASCAR, I would like to make that clear. But if you take anything and do it at an incredibly high level it takes a huge amount of skill. Does just driving a car take skill? No, not really. But driving it with some of the fastest most efficient drivers in the world is. I don't like nascar, I dont really respect it, but I do relise that it takes skill. Just don't be closed minded and ignorant please.

These engines are 2.4L and are 20% more fuel efficient then your car.

they just rev at like 18,000rpm

With this being said EVERY SPORTING EVENT should just be canceled. Do you guys realize how much gas is used for all of these teams to travel

F1 isn't a hillbilly sport. It's probably the most elite sport on the planet. i mean, think of what you need to make a team, not to mention like billions of dollars. plus you need lots of smart people to deal with those cars and their systems. not to mention finding drivers.

you could shut down F1 and NASCAR and you wouldn't even dent the amount of fuel still being used by the rest of the world.

plus, F1 teams use technology they make to help make cars better. not sure if NASCAR does that.

Yeah sorry but if you really want to put a dent in fuel consumption by eliminating something, it'd be air travel.

No worries, we got your back up here in AB. Just keep buying and we'll keep pumping it down thurr.

FUCK NASCAR

i love this thread!! nascar is the biggest waste of resources i've ever seen...

Because ending nascar is really going to put a dent in the 85 million barrels of oil the world burns every single day...

Or we could drill ANWR.. Or NPRA as we should. Look it up if you dont know what im talking about, cause you should.

more rules/regulations:

1. cars have a HP limit of 80.

2. car can weigh now more than 1700 lbs. (half the limit of cars now)

3. rubber bumpers and side skirts.

4. better roll cages.

5. improved walls for spectator and driver safety.

i feel like this has the potential to be more popular that NASCAR...it's the only possible way more alcohol could be consumed at the races. if you want a real challenge the pit crew should be required to drink as well.

I think he meant if you drove them like a normal car, of course at 18,000 rpms you're only getting 3mpg.

F1 is completely carbon neutral, they offset the co2 emitted from racing all over the world by planting trees and stuff,

i hate nascar though

all of this except No. 1

do the opposite. put a few thousand horsepower under their control, that's when shit gets interesting.

ok, first of all, im a huge fan of all kinds of motorsports, and nascar is one of my least favorites to watch. But its just plain ignorant to say it doesnt take skill. the talent at the top level of nascar is insane, and the amount of finesse, mental toughness, and intelligence it takes to be at the top level of nascar is higher than almost any other sport out there. now i may not like watching nascar, but i can guarantee that actually racing in nascar would be one of the most intense and demanding things you could do.

and the drivers are hardly redneck, but the fans sure as shit are.

they also have more fun than anyone else. just because your life sucks driving a prius, eating plants, and saving the planet. doesnt mean it has to suck for all of us. let the rednecks be.

I don't think the people saying "blah blah won't dent the oil we use each day" realize just how much fuel gets used at a single race. That shit adds up

Nascar uses about 2 millions gallons of gasoline a year, but its .001% of domestic consumption. If you think about it, it's really not that much compared to what we use on a yearly basis.

Nascar annual fuel consumption: 2,000,000 gallons

U.S. commercial airlines' annual fuel consumption: 18,000,000,000 gallons

Basically the entire Nascar season is like adding a few planes to someone's fleet.
