So I hurt my back skiing sunday I don't know what I did...but the pains in my lower back and its so bad everytime i move my low back just kills me. The problem is right now theres no way I can ski and I leave for Big White on friday...so can you guys give me any tips on how to speed up the process of healing my back?

i laugh every time i see a thread like this.

no one can give you any better advice except... "Go to a doctor!!!"

Honestly, i'm not trying to be an asshole, but just go see your doctor man.

This is a site full of skiiers, not medical students.

in the meantime, pop some ibuprofen... or percocet if you have 'em. haha.

good luck.

Well obviously you're not doctors I was just hoping someone else has had experience with back problems and could give me some advice.

Well I was hitting a rock that was covered with snow the transition was just way steeper than i had expected and my upper body just snapped back and my backs been hurting ever since

I was going pretty fast...It was way worse than a strecth but I dont really remember how bad because i was focusing on staying up after the hit.

get some bengay or like icy hot to relax the muscles. if it is a muscle stretch or whatever. i aint knowin no medical turmz.

Yeah its just standing up from a seated position hurts and like little movements when im standing up really hurt

I dont know. Based on your speed and the amount of strain put on your spine, you either have a severe muscle strain or its quite possible that you have whats called a compression fracture. Your spine is kind of like a tight chain. It only a certain range to bend before it puts the pressure onto the links on both sides, or in your backs situation, the vertebrae. This can cause them to crack or chip. The thing about it is that they are really hard to see on the x ray initially, even when you are looking for it. Either situation, your chances of skiing in the next several weeks at least would not be recommended. If you ski and you tweak it even a little bit, you could be looking at an injury that will stay with you your entire life. Obviously I cant diagnose you over the internet. I would STRONGLY encourage you to go see a doc or visit the ER. Just dont do anything stupid that you will pay for your entire life. Ben Gay and pain pills wont fix it. Go see the doc. You dont want to mess with back injuries.

I've strained muscles in my back before. It was over a month before it was a full recovery and pretty painful. sorry man.

i've sprained my back twice. it hurts a lot and it takes a long time to fully heal. definately go to a doctor and have him check it out. i wouldn't be skiing anytime within a few weeks.

yea man i know how it feels to miss a big trip cuz of injury. I missed a colorado trip by one week cuz i cracked the ball of my ankle, shit sucks. But don't push you'll only regret. You can always have another trip, you can't really get a new back.
