I need illustrator help

So I am tracing a picture of a Cinnamon Bun for a design for one of my friends and I came across an issue.





I am trying to connect these three lines so I can fill them, but illustrator will not let me join them.



Could someone assist me on this, because I have no idea how to go about joining these lines.

when using live trace, try and clean up image as best as possible in photoshop, Ie remove black boarder going around your image, cleanup watermark, imporve contrast, in Illustrator, chose live trace - specify number of colors if your looking to retain more colors than just black and white - use the advanced tool settings to get a more refined look/clean up with pen tool...

But, to fix it. If you want those shapes you've made to have color (grey in the original image) you either need to create a compound path. Highlight all three objects, and hit command 8, or check the bottom of the object(?) drop down menu. This should give you the option to make those areas a color. Or you could use the pathfinder menu to create one shape, but those areas would need to be overlapping to do that.
