I suck at google searchin, so i need help finding something....

I need to replace my alternator in my 99 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT, and my dad wants me to pull something up on the internet...

Can you find one?

Go to autozone or whatever auto parts store is near to you and pick up a HAYNES book for 99 subarus. Should have what you need and then some.

Hard to find...

scoobymods.com should have what you are looking for. Look up almost any subaru for how to change the alternator. The 1999 Legacy and the WRX among many others use the EJ20 engine, you should be able to find what you are looking for. As far as I recall, an alternator change is pretty easy. It's like 5 bolts and some clips and such, can't remember exactly though.

Are you just replacing the alternator or what? The tensioner would be for your belt, which you would have to adjust if you are replacing that as well, but that is really simple. Its just a loose or tight kinda thing for the belt tension.

What exactly is wrong with your car? There was a recall on the 1998 alternators in the legacy gt, you could have a similar problem.

You are very wrong haha. First of all, there are outbacks for the impreza and the legacy which are quite different. Also, there is a difference in the engines and many other things depending on if you have a 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0.

I made a mistake on your engine Uni-corn, it is actually an ej25 not an ej20. However, I think that it should still be a pretty simple change if you can't find the exact instructions. Try looking at up 2.5l forester, impreza rs and other outbacks for instructions, those should all be the same.

Very wrong, huh? Go jump off a bridge. THE only difference between a LEGACY OUTBACK and a LEGACY GT are suspension and trim.

Thats not true at all actually. First it really depends on the year. But for 1999 the outback/wagon version had a 2.2l phase 2 boxer while the gt had a 2.5l dohc boxer among other changes.
