I need advice

Two weeks ago i was hittin this rail and i was doing fine, hittin it clean and crisp everytime with no problem...but last week i hit the same rail and ate shit... so i hiked and hit it again, and once again ate shit. I was getting really frustrated and i hit it a few more times and kept falling so after i was really bruised and banged up i decided to call it at day. But later that night i went night skiing with my friends. I stayed as far away from that rail as possible. But after a few runs i decided that i should just grow a pair and hit the damn thing (whats the worst that can happen right?)...well i fucked up again and this time i broke my collar bone and im out until mid feburary. Every time i try to picture my self doing a rail i just see myself falling
so im wondering:A) what am i doing wrong? (theres probably not much you can say considering you weren't there. I think i was just hesitant because i was scared)andB)what do i do to get over it? (should i just man up and hit it? or stay away from it for a while, and stick to jumps and boxes until im comfortable again)

its a mind game. if you picture yourself falling then you will fall. if you tell yourself that you know you can do it then you will. dont think about it so hard and just let it happen. be confident in your abilities.

If your hittin shit with your broken collar bone def stay away from that rail for awhile. Stay on low boxes / flat rails until you're mostly healed. Or get someone to vid you doing them and watch / post it so you can get feedback.

What helps me do shit is watching someone else do it first. Helps even more if its someone who I'm riding with or know.

maybe have a buddy film you and see what you could work on or whats going wrong?
if not just keep trying and practicing. come into the rail like you own it.

bingo!!! great answer. So much is mental. Positive self talk is key. Take your time heal well all the while reminding yourself of everything you do right on the rails..then get back on the horse

a super similar thing happened to me last year and when i got better i just got the balls and hit it. I think if you dont hit it pretty soon after you come back thats all your gonna think about and your not gonna have as much fun until you conquer it which is the sickest feelin when you finally do.

exactly. when im going up to a rail, i picture seeing some pro hit and grease a rail clean. it sounds lame, but i've never watched much footy of myself, and it helps thinking about getting it clean. same with switch ups and spinning on, i think about videos i've seen of people doing it clean

it depends on which way your falling. because if you know what your doing wrong you need to try out different things until you get it right. I would stay away from it for a while though

stay away from it for a little while and work your way back up to it and when you get the confidence to hit
it again picture yourself stomping it and riding away like a G. If you do this, you will most likely get it
clean which will definetly feel good especially after your injury. Also, once you do have the confidence to
hit it, try not to think about it to much because it may psych you out. I would suggest that you scope it out
on one run to make sure its not sketchy and when you ride down to the park next run to hit it, go right at
it without stopping to avoid your mind playing games with you. hope that helps.
