I've been skiing for a long, long time. I'm in my 30s and a long, long time member of newschoolers and an OG newschool/whatever skier. I love this shit.

I bought a pair of orange 1080s around 2000 in Nova Scotia. Skiing has been a pretty big part of my life ever since. I've spent dedicated seasons in Banff, Laax, Whistler, and Nelson. Through jobs and hookups, I've been able to ski at almost every notable ski hill in North America, many in Europe, some in Asia, and some super weird cases as well.

Over the years I've worked for ski magazines, been hooked up by a few fantastic companies, and met some wonderful people. I'm kind of an old guy now. I think I still shred pretty hard, can still do tricks (backflips and f4 sup), and am now fortunate to be a judge at a bunch of pretty big ski comps. I've met some amazing people and had fantastic times due to skiing.

I just wanted to chime in and say skiing is a lot of fun. Keep doing it. I love this shit.

Went to a preseason rail jam on Saturday night and it was amazing. I saw people there that I hadn't seen in months and it felt like I had just talked to them yesterday. Skiing felt exactly the same as well. Theres no vibe quite like skiing's.

Fuck yeah man. It's hard to explain the feeling when you sit back, catch your breath, shake your head, and think "this is the greatest thing ever invented."

Funny because I think about 50% of this website had those 1080's, they were nearly impossible to break. I still go back to mine when i break all my new skis...Which happens more often then it should. Keep skiing man stoked on the post hopefully I can have a rad life like you!

Haha, well, I broke mine! The second pair of skis I had were the OG trouble makers. I ended up tearing the edges out of those and went back to the 1080s. I snapped one of the. I didn't have the space frame ones, I had the original ones.

classic Dynastar ...

I sometimes still see people riding 1080s and I've told them that their skis are sweet and they think I'm making fun of them for having old skis. then when I tell them they're riding a piece of history they don't even give 1 fuck haha

I just got my skis mounted and I saw that some one got a pair of 1080s re mounted.

This thread made me so stoked and happy dude! So nice to see someone so stoked on life at 30. I hope i can be there someday man.

Man this thread made me happy. I've been super stressed with school and graduating college and skiing has really taken a backseat to real life recently. I mean I sometimes go weeks at a time without even thinking about skiing...

But then I'm reminded that skiing is right around the corner, and it all comes flooding back. You skier bros are some of the raddest people around and I cant wait to shred this season

I broke two pairs of the original 1080's. Looking back, they were a shitty ski for the park. Respectfully though, for those first few years, every pair of 'twin tips' were horribly made.

If I remember correctly, my record is breaking 7 pairs of skis in a single season. I've always been quite good at breaking shit though. Hell, the year the JJ replaced the JP VS Julian, I had the ski delam on me and Armada told me I was the first person to do this. Got the ski replaced through warranty and managed to break them AGAIN within the same season by ripping the top sheet off the ski while trying to nose butter.

Yeah... the way I see it: Once I stop breaking gear, I'll have finally hit 'old man' status and accept that my glory days are behind me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some expensive tech touring binding to make explode by dropping big pillow lines to flat - 'cause that's what young people do, DAMNIT!

Oh man, I don't think I've even broke 7 pairs of skis. I'd say it's around there somewhere but I've had a couple pair of skis that have really lasted. My Surface Life Life 2s from 2008 had 80 days on them that season and about 165 the next season. They are still completely rideable but started to just barely delam towards the end of that year when I got a pair of fat park skis again to ride so I wasn't on the same thing everyday.

It sucks skiing on complete garbage. Does anyone remember the Line... what was it? Before the masterminds? The ones that kiss sued them over? The park ski that came out in summer 2008 or so. Those were garbage, I remember demoing those skis and breaking them just buttering. I'm pretty sure they were one of the first symmetrical park skis and replaced by the afterbang. I think those and then the OG trouble makers were some of the worst wide production skis ever made.

Out of the oldschool skis? The first and second gen Seths are/were incredible skis.

You are thinking of the line invaders? Or were the invaders black and white that year and these were the slightly fatter version... Had the kiss theme with the zebra bases...
