I landed my first backflip at Hemel Hempstead snowdome. Where was your first backflip? (Sorry if this is a repost)

I did about 5 million of them on a trampoline before taking it to snow. Then one spring day in the Alpental BC I came across a booter that everyone was doing backs off of because the landing was super steep and the kicker had a lot of pop so I did 1.5 backs to death splat double eject yard sale it was cool.

Landed my first sometime back in early February off a 20 footer. Have since thrown about 80-100 this year off jumps up to 45 feet. Was hoping to progress to off-axis backflips and flatspin 540s but that will have to wait until summer ski camp.

Big Air Backies are fucking great but I need to expand my trick repertoire this summer. I love progression.

towed in by a snowmobile into a pretty steep take off made out of a snowbank to flat pow landing in a school parking lot

I landed my first backflip on snow a few days ago. and the day after I experienced my first under rotated backflip. That wasn´t too nice but I still love em

Haha yah man I under rotated about 5-6 backflips this year before I learned which jumps I could successfully throw them off or not. When the knuckle curves upward I'm a lot more likely to catch my tips and faceplant. Kind of sucks.

3 years ago in a backyard off a piece of wood against a rail with some snow on it.. never been more stoked

This wasn't my first one, but the location was the same:

This is the beginner hill at the top of the lionshead gondola in Vail. It was a big snow year and they had to actually push snow across the hill and off to the side so the poma lift wouldn't drag. In the process they made this huge lip and all you had to do was carve out where you wanted to hit it. The downside was that you had to skate in from the top of the poma, carve a left hand turn across the poma track, hopefully avoiding the beginners riding the poma. I was wearing my ski school uni the first time I back flipped. I did it a few times and was having fun when I noticed a beginner skiing up to a ski school supervisor. He was over the top of the hill so he couldn't see what was going on, but I could tell by her hand gestures that she was ratting me out. That would have been instant loss of job, so I b-lined straight to the locker room and was changed and out of there quick. My plan was to say that I wasn't even working that day, but luckily the supe never asked me about it.

into some pow on a grey snowy day at solitude. awesome feeling. although once i learned wackflip japan (flat 3 to some people) i pretty much stopped doing backflips. i've yet to do a straight backy this year come to think of it

Friends backyard. Probably a 4 foot tall jump without much pop. Had to get towed in by a banshee bungee. Such a fun thing to try, but ridiculously scary the first time.

my first backflip was on an oversized mogul jump at sunshine. it would have been nice to have a flat inrun.

Have landed a front flip once but not a back flip yet. Feel more protected when I go for a front flip than I do a back flip. I have also tried back flips and one time I couldn't feel anything from the neck down for five minutes.

i just tried my my first "real" backflip on a park jump yesterday. 30-35 footer, came in with speed, and layed one out. It looked real sick but on the landing i caught my tips and ate shit. Probably the scariest thing of my life, but it was worth it

yeah if you think fapping into a tissue counts as sex.

my first backflip was at my home hill. after landing rodeos and some corks. I hate backflips and I'm still not good at them. but I missed this season so liek :(

made a 4 and a half foot kicker in my backyard, threw hard and got it first try. i am yet to try one off a real park jump soon

1997, Zermatt, off a side booter, It wasn't supposed to be one, I was six and did it by accident because I leaned back so hard.

i think into a pool when i was about 5

but on the slopes, i learned to backflip before a 180. i guess it's all that cliff jumping and gymnastics that just made it feel really simple. and there was always something scary about landing backwards.

backs are so easy once you get the feel for the first half rotation. the rest is just spotting your landing and bringing your feet around to it.

backs are pretty bad if you're a random hucker though. whiplash will wreck your neck when you overrotate

thought about doing one... too scared though. I can do double backs on a trampoline and diving board no problem though.

Yeah, I was the same as you JayRich. I just saw hit the little lip on the side of the jump a few times and decided it was right so I chucked it and hoped for the best. Turned out pretty well:)

This year was the first year where I dedicated lots of time to skiing and started skiing with people who encourage me to progress. Other years, I have been busy with JV/varsity ball and haven't been skiing at all.

I got my first backflip in February. Easiest thing I've learned on skis. However, yesterday I was trying flatspins. I landed on my face/stomach about 3 times before I finally got one to my feet hahaha (hopefully I can get the video of it all). But, you just have to keep getting up and getting stoked. After all, YOU ARE SKIING! Enough hype in that alone. Having fun is always first and foremost.

yea i just need to commit to doing one. it'll happen eventually. a couple of my friends can do fronts and backs so i'll most likely be pressured into one next year
