I just want to ski : (

I HATE SCHOOL. i am in this special program through my school district. I'm 16 and i go to the local community college for all my classes, because i hated highschool and at the college i can take better classes, but i realized, i don't want a real career, i just want to ski. I guess you could use the term, "ski bum" While i know i cannot JUST ski, i am considering working as a ski patroler during the winter, and either working construction or being a carpenter during the summer to make extra cash. anyways, my question is, is their anybody on here that took a similar path? i just don't want to get fucked over and have no money, but skiing is my passion in life, i don't beleive in life after death, and i just want to use my life skiing. it's all i like to do. i dunno, what do you think?

You're 16 it's gonna be hard to find a job paying well enough for you to ski, especially if you drop out of school.

You're 16 years old. wait a few years and then you will realize that you don't want to live that way for your whole life.

i'm not dropping out of school, i'm enrolled in community college, and i plan on completing 2 years of it and atleast getting an associates degree. and you say wait a while, if i wait too long it will be too late to pursue anything, considering im already taking classes that will relate to w/e career i choose to go into.

no i don't beleive in marriage, and i definatly do not want to have kids, and force them to live in such a bullshit world.

work as a ski patroller and get enough money to own 2 condos n different parts of world. 2 condos so you can work at one as a patroller while its summer in the other one.

yeah. they're would have to be some gap in between where you could work as a carpentry apprentice (just using what you mentioned)to get some spare money. maybe just maybe you could work up enough money to keep this going for a while.

dude at least your physically able to ski, just deal with life right now and get sdhit done or you'll surely regret it.

Its not the life you want for ever. Im going to do that after I go to university and get the degrees I need to have a career after I ski bumb for a while. Its too hard of a life to be a full time ski bum unless your a pro skier

Just do a carpentry trade and start investing in real estate. You can do all of your own repairs. Make sure you get mortgages that suit you. i.e short enough so they are paid off quickly but long enough so that some rent money will pay for your sking. Get buildings with lots of units. Live in 1 durring the winter and a different one durring the summer. When you are away find a cheap contractor to do repairs. If you get any really cheap /fixerupers get your buddies to help you in exchange for beer/pizza. There it is. Thats how you become a ski bum and also make an excellent living. Send me 5% when you start making a return.

its not that simple though, it takes money to make money to start off with, and then its still not that easy. Its hard to find motivation to come home from working on houses to work on your own, and if your doing a good job you end up working for like half your regular wage by the time you try and make a profit. I worked as a carpenter's appprenctice for 3 years while i was making money to go to school and my boss used to do that, he ended up just becoming a general contractor instead as he said he makes way more money this way and its less stressful/easier. You also have to consider how your going to live without a weekly or biweekly paycheck if thats all your counting on doing.

I'm not talking about flipping houses. I'm talking about renting them but being able to cover your own repairs (if you want to) while still being able to work on the side. Basically If you have enough units you can live for free durring the winter and work on a seperate job durring the summer. If you want to get into fliping houses then yes there is a lot of work (but a big potential). But just buying basica rental properties is pretty straight foreward. Yes it does take money to make money, but it isn't overly hard to get a morgage. And once you own 1 property it gets easier from there.

k, u cant just ski...plus i hope ur not planning on having a wife, unless she's rich or supports ur skiing life...but dude listen here..if u do what u love, ur eventually not gonna enjoy it so much...we like skiing because we wait for it every year (not that ur not going to while u work), but then when u get old, ur gonna be so exahusted...theres nothing to retire to....ur screwed, old, without money, and a family...but thats just what i think....do whatchu want, im not here to tell u what to do... life aint fair, and it never will be.

move to CO or salt lake so u can still ski a shitload, but u have to have a real job. i wanna be a writer so i can bum alot during the winter but still get respect for a having a decent career. Although, writing is still a pretty risky business.

yeah, that's a pretty major decision to be making at only 16. you've got to think about your future, don't throw it all away just because you want to ski.
