i have been skiing just over 2 years and and alright on rails and boxes but recently i can not be bothered 2 ski , like when i am skiing i would rather be doing something else also i cant be assed to try new tricks or do harder ones that i can already do.

has this ever happened to any of u , if so what did you do to overcome it ?

help please

i think grammar check could progress you a long ways. Other than that though, take some time off, do something different, ski something different, if things get stagnant you've got to shake them up. Don't let yourself get caught in a rut, and if you are, change directions all together.

it's always bad when you get "assed" to ski. that might be one problem. but in all seriousness, try shredding some powder if you can access it. it will give you a new outlook on the sport. i don't know anyone that doesn't want to ski on a deep pow day. that shit is therapeutic.

this kinda happened to me last year. everytime i was skiing, i just wasnt having that much fun. but now i got my stoke back x10. i cant fucking wait for this season.

me either! ... and to the thread creator just chill out and ski - try to really find the fun, the heart, and the soul that all come together when your dropping that bc line, boosting the pipe, or just landing that banger trick. its all good bro; its skiing

i agree with the ppl above, try to ski something out of your norm. also, ski how you want to ski dont let other ppl tell you how to. Personally, when dont feel any motivation i watch a ski video before going out or just pop in the earbuds and listen to some music while skiing, best of luck to you

sometimes the thrill and freedom just isn't enough though. Anyone can get burned out. Just look at JF Cusson. Some people just need to take a step away and focus on something else for a while. I did, and I couldn't be happier skiing once again.

and the thing is that there is a big off season for most people which is good. I really shouldn't spend so much time on newschoolers in the summer haha.

Try something different, instead of park go ski moguls, instead of rails and jumps do pipe, instead of serious tricks do silly things. Go film, find new people to ride with, set goals, compete.
If you've only been skiing for 2 years then perhaps take a lesson, learn something new about technical skiing, then take that and go shred some lines with what you've learned.
If you want to write more about why you would rather be doing other things then that would certainly help us give advice.

nahh, bad idea hahaa (well for me at least it doesnt help)...

I would say try skiing with different people, or just change it up somehow. for me having an awesome time has alot to do with who im skiing with, i mean dont get me wrong, its always fun to ski alone, but when im skiing with a bunch of people or a couple (skiers or snowboarders) who are pumped to be out there skiing learning knew things, going knew places on the hill and just wanting to have a good time no matter what, i ALWAYS have a good time =)

for some reason every summer i lose confidence in myself like no i wouldnt hit that im to much of a pussy but i start to regain it in the fall watching the new movies right now i just wanna ride groomers with some friends and spray people

try some new stuff, ride with differant people. movies, edits, and skiing games always get me stoked.

I know I got kinda bummed out by the end of this season. Like I still wanted to ski and had fun doing it, but I didn't get the real hard jittery stoke more than a couple days. I have looked it over in my mind and come to some realizations.
1) The crew you ski with. I have spent a lot of time with my dad skiing because he pays a lot of the time, and I have skied with some people who just don't have too much fun as well. There is no fire when I'm skiing with them, it's just the same routine of pick the run or trick and do it. Blah. Sometimes I ride with peeps who are stoked and it is just so much more fun, then you get stoked and don't want to leave. This stoke carries on and on and on.
2) Your tricks/ progression. I suck at park, just throwing that out there. So this season I spent a lot of my time thinking that I wouldn't be respected as a skier, or that I would be considered a poser because of my equipment, unless I learned some basic tricks. Well I suck at park for a reason, mainly because I don't have the real desire to throw myself in harms way and learn stuff. But I felt the pressure to perform to expectations. I was trying to learn tricks for my rep. BAD IDEA. Skiing is about fun and as soon as I stopped caring about my abilities and just fooled around it got a lot more fun. Get creative if that's what floats your boat. Do what you want regardless of what others think. Chances are it will take you somewhere.
3) The place/conditions of where you ski. If you are stuck in a tiny hill with a shitty park and no powder constantly it might get a little stagnant. Plan a trip to a place that gets lots of good snow and has real mountains or parks or both and just get in touch with skiing again. If spending a week skiing powder or pristine parks doesn't do it for you then you might just need a break from skiing completely.
4) NEWSCHOOLERS. I have taken a break from ski gabber, gear talk, and from watching any edits that aren't professionally edited. I have detached myself from the details of what tricks are what, what grabs are cool, which double flips are lame, which pros are up-and coming, what gear has what characteristics, etc. After about 4 days of not saturating myself in the skiing aspect of NS I felt a sudden urge to go skiing again. I remembered all MY favorite feelings about skiing, not other people's or the pros'. Sometimes a break to cleanse the mind and get back to what skiing is about to you is really useful.
I could go on and on and on since I have thought a lot about it, but I'm done for now.

I found myself in the same position last year. I was stuck doing the same runs, with the same people, doing the same tricks....Midway through the season I thought it would be my last season in CO and I was gonna move back east...Then some good friends helped me get my stoke back so severely i moved to NZ to keep riding and i can't wait to get back to good 'ole CO for some pow in december.

1st - Ski with someone better than you who you don't usually ski with.

2nd - Ask them politely to take you to their favorite stashes and swear to keep them secret.

3rd - Do some crazy shit (relatively). Ex. Drop a cliff. this one always helps me. That glorious feeling when your nuts are in your throat (no homo) and you're rolling down the windows and then you splash into pow and ride away smiling. Mmmm.

If that's not your thing, get someone to peer pressure you into trying some sick new shit in the park. When you stomp something you didn't think you could do it makes you wanna say fuck the lift, pop the skis off and run back up the mountain to do it again.

If that STILL doesn't work, hang yourself. A life without skiing ain't worth livin.

^^ ski with friends and dont set new tricks as your objective, just have fun, do stupid stuff...

This.

^exactly, just have fun and if tricks aren't fun, don't do them. Just go on the groomers and go like 100mph, that's always fun for me. If I wasn't stuck on the east coast I'd be skiing big mountain and powder all day, park can wait until I fell like it skiing it.

dude this is depressing. the only time i have EVER felt that way about skiing is when I was recovering from injuries and couldnt ski like i usually do. i forget who said this, but no matter what is going on in your life, when you click in for the first run, nothing matters at all

some times i get that was when its 5 in the morning and you know you have a long drive ahead of you and you think how nice it would be to stay in bed, or its closing time and you know you have a long drive home, that just sucks, but take a little break from it and youll come back stronger than ever

ski with people better than you. it helps alot, it'll motivate you to try new tricks just because they're setting the bar a little higher. try skiing in new places or even just switching up your look a little bit.

you may feal like its not as fun because maybe you ski the same mountain a lot, maybe? i dont know if you do ,but like some of the other NS users said you got to try all the aspects of skiing.i cant even imagine fealing like that im so stoked for this season

If you have to ask people why you have lost interest then why bother??

I would say the fact that you are asking people this is probably the same reason you are not stoked on skiing anymore! Quit caring what people think... Fuck see what you got me doing now... telling giving advice! Forget about it and just live life!!!!!

this gave me another idea for you. Next time you find yourself thinking about not thinking about skiing just pop some alka-seltzer in your mouth and then you can write a thread about foaming at the mouth while thinking about not thinking about skiing.... Huh???

Dude same thing happend to me this past season. I just relized that I had stoped proggressing and that doing the same old thing was getting boring so this season im just going balls to the wall haha

Just look up! Do whatever makes you happy and do your best to have fun. I lost my motivation a couple years ago and it was rekindled when I started to leave my ski poles at home. It's not the solution for everyone but I am so glad Even Sigstad inspired me to try it. It saved my life.

Trying doing something insanely illegal while skiing, you know, get the adrenaline pumping. Like try a ski-by-stabbing or somethin. YOu know, enough to where to you really need to get away, but nothing serious enough to give you nightmares or anything. Just keepin it real man. just keepin it real.
